I have 3 of these shrubs and and they really need some trimming. I tried with manual shears and didn't get very far due to physical limitations (I'm weak) and the shears not being strong enough to cut through some of the branches on the bottom. So I decided at looking into getting my first gardening power tool but there are so many on the market and I have no idea which one would be best. A smaller cheaper one? A larger one that will have an easier time cutting through some of the thicker branches, and that I can reach over my head to get to the tops? If you use an electric hedge trimmer which one do you use or would recommend? Thanks very much in advance for any info or advice you may have for me.

For tough junipers I would suggest loppers. They have great leverage to do the work for you. Coniferous evergreens leaf & stay green where the sun hits, so you don't want to shear the bushes with a hedge trimmer. You want to cut out individual branches that are too big for your needs allowing the shrub to keep a natural appearance & allow sun to the interior of the plant.
I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!
