K - answer me this. Purple fountain grass. I wanted to start some from seed this year because, well, it's cheaper! But ~ they are sterile and don't have seed? So - where does the plan start from??????? I don't get it.

if it is a hybrid, then it won't have usable seeds or the seeds it does produce won't grow true.

so lots of times, they call them sterile.

other times, there are plants that the seeds take YEARS to produce a usable plant, but root cuttings produce them much quicker. so that is how they are mass produced and the seeds just aren't commercially profitable.
