I have been wearing slacks for a while notw to these things, like Sheri says alot of people do. I wore slacks to my dads funeral because I was afraid I'd have to help hold my mom up and didn't want to be showing anything while trying to hold her.
I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once. -Jennifer Unlimited- Yard Update -April 2012
Nice seeing you again. I wore slacks both days and didnt care.
2 sister in laws wore new dresses mind you.. First day . They acted uppity. I wore slacks and funeral eveyone in the church had on slacks except the lady on the alter.
In our area not many follow dressing up the tradition..
Barb I'm glad you are hanging in there. And I'm very very glad you did what was best for you and wore your slacks. I'm sure your beloved sister would want you as comfortable as possible at such a difficult time. Don't worry about the other two women... their opinions don't count! (Besides, I don't think it is very respectful to act uppity at a funeral).
You mentioned you've already had a chance to visit the gravesite. Is it a pretty place? Will you be allowed to plant things there later?

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Glad I took your advice and did my own thing.. I just wore all the black I have stored in my closet.. I feel good in black at a funeral..Not many follow that either...My son an I like black. And my sis was a very casual dresser, where her inlaws were masters of makeup and top of the line clothes. She was not like that at all. More natural.
We were just as natural at my brother in Laws funeral,, It was a terrible windy snowy day.....Hubby said what do we ride the car or truck, and I thought he is so nervous, I know he loves to drive the truck, and his brother never even owned a car......We rode the truch, and had to be the Lead auto in the procession. It was sort of amusing.
Later hubby said, thats all he drove so we should live in his style..LOL
My sister had herself a pre-paid funeral.. She paid it all , even our last meal a the church.. After we left the cemetary, we hurried home and did the bathroom and changed into our Jeans....Then to church basement for a meal.. Told everyone we went home for farmer clothes....LOL Actually it was pouring rain an hubby and I got our self wet, he was on the end seat in the rain .......My long coat protected me.
Thanks again for sticking with me.......I needed that..
Forgot yes it is a nice grave site, but no planting .. Once a year memorial day flowers.. then remove them .. I dont like that part...... Sis & hubby both lie three,(Paid stone) my mom and dad, one brother, one sister.
I had to return a pan from the funeral, to a friend today.. So I got real brave and went .
Glad I did.. i took her a potted africian violet .. And then I found out she has a green house.WOW WOW WOW.........That took 2 hours to discuss it.LOL What a nice visit we had .greenhouse cheered us both up......NOw I know where to look in the spring .
We were lifelong pals. That helped lots .. I feel a little less yucky today.
