Was wondering how everyone on here celebrates EASTER ???????

I made Pickled Beets 2 weeks ago , so they can become really red and pickled.

Bought stuff to make up a Haley basket ,,,,,,Got her an outfit and a small wagon with outside tools for her .. ANd a nice plastic tea pot full of dishes.
And some stuff to scribble on .

She doesnt even eat candy.. But I will put some in her basket anyways. I am sure son/wife will.

We just have a ham , and stuff to fill the tummy.. Maybe a coconut cake I shall bake ...........

We have an Easter Egg at my in-laws, and I make Easter cakes for our friends, family, and our Pastor. It is always a great time!

The sunshine is calling me, the dirt says come and play, the little seeds yawn for a nap, the weeds yell go away!

Well, we will go to church of course, and I fix a dinner for my family. As we are growing it will likley just be my immediate family here, instead of Mom, Dad my siblings & all their family's but family none the less.
I make "baskets" for my kids, even though they are in their late 20's---it is more for me than for them. When/if the grandkids begin to come I will switch over to them, of course.

so i made baskets for my kids for years. well past being 20 or 21. but the last year or so, i've not been up to it. so this year, my oldest who is almost 29 and married to a man who is 32, said "mom, i don't know IF you are making us easter baskets this year but..." and dropped a blatant hint at what she and her hubby would like in theirs. so i guess i'm making baskets for them lol lol

we may or may not go to church. other than that, it will be a quiet day.

No, I buy the crosses.. You can buy them for like $2 at Walmart. I used fondant for the wrap.

According to Catholic dogma, starting from the 5th Sunday of Lent, statues and crucifixes should be put away, or veiled. The altar should be bare, and no candles should be lit until the Saturday vigil. All this is to emphasize' the importance of Easter and the passion.

I had forgotten to veil the crucifix in my room until i went to mass this morning and saw all the statues with purple silk covering them. You really know time flies when it seems like Christmas was just a few weeks ago lol

I usually have fresh flowers and candles around (and other things) past Easters but I'm choosing to take everything away this year.

And look, the palms from this morning:

They're going to be removed and kept in another place by Thursday

And what's palm Sunday without palm crafts? Down south where palms grow outside, the palm ornaments are much bigger and nicer, but being north, we make do with what we can :)

You're talented Kenny.

I went to the Passion Play at my daughters church last Sunday night but didn't go to the encore last night. Today I went with the grans to the Easter Egg Hunt. Besides the hunt there was an Easter skit (short so the little ones wouldn't get rowdy) and the Pastor told the Easter story using a dozen eggs. The children made a few crafts. It was fun.

Shelley has decided that it's easier for us to come to her for lunch tomorrow than for her to get her brood to my house. So we'll go to sun rise service at 7:00, have breakfast at church around 8, Sunday School at 9, Church at 10, then lunch at her house around 11:30 or 12:00. I'm taking stuff for sandwiches, potato salad, cheesecake and chocolate pie. Shelley's chosen menu. Her famly will then take a nap and they will go to her inlaws, who live across the street, for dinner. They will be exhausted after all this but thankfully her children are out of school Monday. Holidays can be exhausting.
