I saw some foxtail willow at the local supermarket about four feet long for forcing. Is it possible to root these and grow outside? I've already had a bunch of regular pussy willow forced and I've tried to root them, but they just turn black and die. Anyone with ideas?

Foxtail willow looks like pussy willow but has a flat stem that looks like many stems connected together, with many more catkins)

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

I've never tried to 'plant' them or cultivate them; I usually just buy a few and stick them in 'places' . . . wherever they seem to look good.

I've always loved pussy willows. For some reason, they put me in mind, of 'country' places my paternal grandparents rented in their retirement.

I guess there were a lot of pussy willows around in those places.

How are you Kenny? How's Don Mills these days? Weather being good to you?
