My hubby's grandpa dug up some garlic for me to plant in my litte garden. It looked great in his,b ut now it is wilting, turning yellow on the tips. What am doing wrong? Am I maybe overwatering? Thank you so much.

How large were these dug up plants? It actually could be transplant shock. I'd let the tops die back naturally and see if they regrow for you.

They were about 10inches tall (is that waht you meant?)and had a very strong smell. Thanks, Tina. I love that his family gives me gardening things, they are such great people. It just makes me so nervous cause they ask how the plants are doing and really don't to have to tell them I killed it, you know? You guys are the best!

Here in zone 5 I can't kill garlic. I have transplanted from early spring to mid winter. It will take the punishment but it will make larger bulbs if it is planted in late summer/ early fall and harvested around September, at least in my area.

10a in N. Cal? hmmm, I am in the desert s. Cal and I am only zone 9. Most of California is zone 9 except some very mild coastal zones in Santa Barbara and San Diego, I think. And then higher elevations and the far north maybe zone 8 and less.
