I am back again today. I forgot how much I loved this place!

Where I live, the snow is finally starting to go away. Bless all of us that have to put up with it and bless the ones that don't have too!

Do you all do the same as the previous spring when it comes to planting, or do you try to do something different each year?

I used to do the same thing each year. I used to grow only peppers and tomatoes in the spring/summer. I also used to till up the garden before spring each year. For the past couple of years I have tried growing all sorts of different herbs and veggies year round. some I have luck with and some not. And I don't till every year anymore. the more I learn about gardening the more I realize (for me at least) you just never know what will work best for you no matter what you read in a book.

Get ready for the hummers. New feeders, new flowers (Zinnias).

Well it will start with getting the compost mixed in with the soil and adding the amendments best suited to what I hope to plant.

So I'll be crumbling the dried leaves over the existing flower beds and then I'll be hauling aged cow manure to the home of the veggie garden when it gets warm enough to plant. And I'll add calcium to the planting holes of the tomato plants. I like to trench them. I plan to use the florida weave to keep them growing upright.

I don't till the soil I'm on a steep grade so each hole is amended seperately. It's a lot of work but I bought an awesome auger this winter to help me out.

I put my first Hummingbird feeder out last sunday and will put the rest out this weekend,,,,,
I plan to amend soils this weekend too with my compost,,,, to prepare for planting of seeds and plants

my hummer/oriole/downy woodpecker feeders do not go up until may 1.

but yea I am on the same page-

I am in need of a new finch feeder.--I want to find "just the right one"---
but I had better hutty up, my finches are going to get upset here in a few if I do not.

day by day I go from just doing the lasagna thing to my veggie garden and not plant this year to planting just a bit. I WILL be planting my flowers though--Luckily I h ave LOTS of various coneflower seeds

I'm going to grow a few tomatoes from seed this year. I usually buy plants but I'm gonna just give it a try. We'll see.

And we're putting up a blue bird house.

I wouls love to have a bluebird house. But getting Rod to bury a post to put it on might be another matter.--and my trees are all really baby trees---

someone posted directions for making one on here a while back. We're going to mount it on some type of PVC post or something like that. I think we need to do 2. I'll ask Thornius.
