I'm sure you've seen these squiggly Bookworms around and they are so easy to make! It is a simple project to use up scrap yarn, too, and they only take a few minutes... perfect to add to a waiting Christmas Stocking!

Supplies:
scrap yarn in color of your choice
suitable hook for your yarn
google eyes (optional)

Instructions:

Ch 15
2 dc in 4th ch from hook
now put 3 dc in each ch to end.
The chain will automatically begin to twist into the squiggle shape.

Next, make a chain the entire length of the average book, with a little extra added (try about 30 to 35, but adjust for your yarn thickness).

Put a marker in at the end of your chain

Now ch 10 more st.

Lastly, work backwards along those last 10 ch's, putting 3 dc in each, ending at the marker.

Cut yarn, weave in ends.

You will now have a bigger squiggly at one end and a shorter one at the other, with a flat chain inbetween to place in the book.

If you have the googly eyes, you can add dabs of glue and glue them in place at one end of your worm.

All the kids I know love to get these, and they work up embarassingly fast and easy!

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

I used to make these for hair ties for my girls. They are quick and easy.

What a great idea! and a great way to use up extra yarn.
I think I'll make the book mark first to get the feel, then try some hair ties.
