Oh, I get it now, Sheri.

Enrique ~ a whole week off?! That's great. Our kids don't get that much time off for Thanksgiving but they do get a week in October for fall break, so.

I gotta start the laundry and I don't really want to! But I'll be unhappy in the morning with no long pants ready to wear for dialysis.

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes, like it or not!

lol

My kids are off all next week too, enrique. It still feels weird to me because they used to get only Thus and Fri off for this holiday.

they may be giving them "travel time" Tina?? My oldest at college got off the whole week--they said they had to, so kids w could travel home---perhaps your school district feels the time off is wanted by the parents (or teachers) to allow them to travel home to family???

all my kids (or me back in the day) ever got off was thursday & friday as well....

Enrique--I am happy for you though......

Morning,
I just finished paying bills ...thats always so much fun... thinking I need to go eat some breakfast now... anybody got anything really good?

Woke up to cold chilly fog outside this morning-- but as soon as sun came up it burned off- was really dense too- couldn't see across the street when I went out for paper... and there was a frosting of ice across the lawn... sparkeled nicely when sun finally it it... was pretty .. going to be in the 50's today ... that will be nice!
Well off to eat....

4 degrees! I can't even imagine! that is way beyond 'brrr', am I right?
Well our weather here has been shorts and a jacket in the morning, then shed the jacket around noon, maybe put it back on close to dark.
I ran to town around a noon today (my day off. who-hoo!) in my shorts and jacket and at least 6 people asked if I was crazy or something. I guess it hasn't gotten out of the 50's all day. in the morning will be very close to freezing temps.
oh, btw.....went to the resale shop in town and picked up a 6 dollar food processor! I've been wanting one for SO long.

Yes you are right. But...it will get much colder than that come January!! I am not ready for it!!!! We don't have snow on the ground like Dodge does though. We have had a little here and there but it has long since melted and hasn't snowed much since. Was too cold to snow this morning.

My husband always says it's too cold to snow and I always argue that it can still snow when it's really cold. lol

Looked it up here.. It really can't be too cold to snow, but it makes it much more difficult it seems.

that's pretty cool, loz! weather has always intersted me! I figured it had something to do with 'warm air being able to hold more moisture'... just never thought it through to the really cold temps.
No one is gonna congratulate me on my new toy.....????....6 dollar resale shop food processor????? I just chopped up some bell pepper and onion just to see how it'd do. I think I'm in love already!

I love my food processor too. I think you got an excellent deal. I am on my second one over the years. I wore my first one out. Lets see bell peppers and onions in a processor means either meatloaf or meatballs to me (or both). When my older kids were younger, they didn't like to find onions in anything. The food processor let me hide many things inside other things.

I've been doing the same thing (hiding the veggies) in food for years with my blender.
I did the onion and bell pepper cause we just ordered pizza tonight and I just HAD to chop something. I"m thinking in the morning either omlets or breakfast taco's. maybe both? gotta chop chop something!

gosh Cricket. I got my daughter one and it was $150.00. You got a great deal if it works at all. I've never had one. I could have used one when my girls were at home and I cooked more. I cook maybe 3 or 4 times a month now. Someone gave us a Fry Daddy a couple of years ago and I was thinking Monday that I should throw it away. It's just taking up space on the shelf.

Good Saturday morning. I've been up for over an hour all by myself. The rest of my family is still sleeping. That is nice for a change. I have a fry daddy taking up shelf space too. I found it too small for my family. And too messy.

Morning all, my MIL bought me a wonderful fryer last year. It's a big long rectangle one and holds a ton of stuff! Much better than my old one. thumbup

Gotta get Athena dressed, we just had waffles for breakfast. Then we'll go over and I'll have a coffee at moms.

4 days until my brother gets here from Michigan for Thanksgiving! clap

Be back later. wavy

Good Morning, everyone.

About the fryer. The first one I had was wonderful. You were to stotre the grease in the pot itself. I would strain the grease when hot and then put it back and cool it.

When it bit the dust, I bought a fry daddy---well one had to take the grease out---strain it, then get a container to keep the grease in in the ice box then TRY to wash the fry daddy itself---which was no walk in the park as it wasn't submersable.

I have since gotten rid of it----which is a shame---we have not had fried shrimp or fried french fries since.

When I do fry things, I fry in my dutch oven on the stove top. I don't fry very often. When I do shrimp I saute in my iron fry pan. Much less spattered grease mess that way. I love fried foods but I have come to really hate the clean up afterwards. So for years I ate my fried foods from take-out places mostly. But California made laws about the saturated fat allowed in restaurants here and really changed the taste of fried foods. Even Mac Donald's fries don't taste good any more. That is quite sad.

I know what you mean, Tina. I really do not fry much in a pan either.

i bake fry most of my meat too. I can remember one time when the-kids were small we were eating baked pork steak. Rod looks at me and says,--Honey--- do you think we should be eating so mkuch fried food???

when i got done laughing I told him the meat was baked.

I will not fry chicken or make a dish we all love where you cube meat, bread it and deep fry it.-there is a dipping sauce one makes for the meat. I do not appreciate the clean up either.

It is cold and cloudy here today but no weather is expected. Just a titch dreary.

Maxi is majorly bummed out because his new Guitar Hero is apparently defective & needs to be exchanged. It won't play in his PS2 as it is supposed to do.

My girl will be here soon and after she leaves, I'm getting a nap!

I like to deep fry home made breaded cheese squares consisting of three kinds of cheese. It goes great with my roast & a big salad.

Rod Just called. He got a medium sized Doe last night. He is waiting around to see if his friend will get a deer before they head home tomorrow morning.

Emily & Chris are doing their Thanksgiving Dinner shopping and and Valarie is having breakfast with a friend of hers. When they are all done, they will be coming over here to help me with my Christmas decorations & putting up my small Tree.

Then tomorrow we will all be going to have Thanksgiving Dinner with Marie at the assisted living place where she lives.

Things are getting busy already......

It is a busy season. I decided I was cooking today. It hadn't been my original plan for my day. But John had some specific food cravings so cook I will. He needs feeding up. And the weather is cooperating as it is cool right now. Highs expected to be 80 later. I may even bake something dessert-y.
