I have a lilac that I rescued after our neighbors chopped down all their lilac bushes to put up a fence. It was just 1 lonely lilac bush out in the middle of nowhere. The first (stupid) thing I did was mist it with what I thought was water.....it ended up being bleach. Well, it lived through it with black spots all over the leaves. Recently, it had a "growth attack" and sprouted new leaves everywhere. So, I have been slowly clipping off the ugly leaves so the new ones could fill their places. It is still growing, but do you think I ought to let it alone, or try to help it grow more? lilac.jpg" alt="[Linked Image]" class="post-image" style="height:auto!important;max-width:100%!important;"/>

I don't know what area you live in. But lilacs really like the winter chill outdoors to bloom properly. My southern California lilacs do not always bloom depending on how much cold weather we get. And even mine are beginning to drop their leaves for their natural leafless season. I know nothing about wintering them indoors.

I am in Southern Utah. I really intend on keeping the plant indoor always. Like a bonsai lilac maybe?

I work inside an office all day, so I want as many indoor plants as I can get. Maybe I will be the first who has tried indoor lilac and I will come back here and let you know how I did it and how it worked! Ü

Maybe someone else has tried indoor lilacs. I am sorry. I am of no help here. when we moved from my previous house, I took a small start of my Daughter's lilac bush. it stayed indoors all winter for several years it did fine. treated it like a bouse plant--that likes sun.

Sun is a little hard to come by in an office. We have fluorescents though. So far, it is surviving with no sunshine.

Thanks I'll look that up. whatever it was would not wash off with soapy water.
the leaves have now all dried up.--I will hope they will come off--and that I can get rid if them so as to not contaminate things further.
