It appears that last weeks mini-flood was only a practice session for what is coming.......

Warning Description: Areal Flood Watch
Warning Date: 4:19 am PST on November 11, 2008
WarningSum:...Flood Watch Remains In Effect From 4 Pm Pst This Afternoon Through Late Wednesday Night...
Warning Message:The Flood Watch continues for * portions of western Washington...including the following counties... Grays Harbor...Clallam...Jefferson...Skagit... Whatcom...King...Kitsap...Lewis...Mason...Pierce...Snohomish... Thurston. * From 4 PM PST this afternoon through late Wednesday night * the first of a series of fronts that will affect the region into Wednesday is pushing onshore. Snow levels will start out around 4000 feet then rise to over 6000 feet this afternoon. This front is expected to produce between one and two inches of precipitation over the mountains. A second...stronger front that has entrained tropical moisture will raise the freezing levels to around 10000 feet and spread heavier rain across the area tonight into Wednesday. The combination of a strong westerly wind in the mid levels of the atmosphere and abundant moisture is expected to produce very heavy rain along the west slopes of the Olympics and Cascades. Rainfall amounts over the Olympics and Cascades are expected to range from 3 to 7 inches and may locally exceed 10 inches. A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on the current forecasts. Residents in the watch area should be aware of the potential for significant rainfall that could lead to flooding and be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Monitor forecasts from the National Weather Service in Seattle for updates on this event. Cerniglia WarningDesc:Special Weather Statement

WarningSum:
Warning Message:The amount of rainfall forecast over the next 24 to 36 hours...on top of the cumulative rainfall late last week...will push most of western Washington soils to the point where they are marginally above the USGS landslide index. When cumulative rainfall exceeds the USGS landslide cumulative threshold index...rainfall induced landslides are possible during intense rainfall or when rainfall amounts exceed two inches in 24 hours. A diminishing risk of landslides will continue for several days after the rain ends. A large part of western Washington will receive heavy rain over the next 24 to 36 hours...increasing the threat of landslides tonight through Thursday. This includes the Olympics and west slopes of the Cascades...the coast...western Strait of Juan de Fuca and much of the southwest interior. Due to a rain shadow northeast and east of the Olympics...the central Puget Sound...Admiralty Inlet and eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca will not receive the heavy rainfall and thus will likely not have a threat of landslides. This area of little or no threat includes the Seattle to Everett Metro area...the Kitsap peninsula north of Belfair...the Strait of Juan de Fuca east of Joyce...Admiralty Inlet...Whidbey Island and the San Juan Islands. While the USGS rainfall thresholds were designed for the Seattle area of the Puget Sound...most of The Lowlands of western Washington are similarly susceptible to landslides caused by wet soils. Areas most susceptible to landslides under these conditions are steep coastal Bluffs and other steep hillsides. For more information about current conditions...visit www.Weather.Gov/Seattle...select hydrology...and then scroll down for the link to the USGS landslide information Page. When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
I wish I was there...I'd love to be trapped on Cedar Hill with you!

That yellow bag of yours isn't going to keep you afloat if you get washed away.
Hopefully, on Friday we will be setting up the date to glue me back together. I kept telling them not to underestimate the healing powers of The gnome, but I am 2 months ahead of what they expected me to be at. Guess I'll make believers of them yet!

WarningDesc:Wind Advisory
WarningDate:2:12 PM PST on November 11, 2008
WarningSum:...Wind Advisory In Effect From 10 Pm This Evening To 10 Am Pst Wednesday...
Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Wind Advisory for the interior lowlands of western Washington...which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 10 am PST Wednesday. A warm front will lift north across western Washington tonight resulting in an increase in southerly winds. The strongest winds will initially occur tonight from the north Puget Sound to the north interior. Expect sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph to develop across this area later this evening. As the associated cold front begins to sag south across the area late tonight and Wednesday morning...similar wind speeds will focus from the central Puget Sound southward to the southwest interior. Winds will decrease by later Wednesday morning once the cold front passes the area. Winds this strong can snap small tree branches...topple small or shallow-rooted trees...and cause local power outages. Motorists...especially those with high profile vehicles...should also be alert for sudden strong cross winds.
Wonderful news about being put back together!! I was just thinking you were sounding really good tonight and then read that post. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
The Flood Warning continues for the Skykomish river near Gold Bar. * From 5 am Wednesday until Thursday evening. * At 3:30 am Wednesday the stage was 12.1 feet. * Flood stage is 15.0 feet. * Near record flooding is forecast. * Forecast...the river will rise above flood stage around 5 am Wednesday and crest near 22.9 feet around 4 PM Wednesday. The river will fall below flood stage Thursday early afternoon. * Impact...at 22.0 feet...the Skykomish river will cause severe... near record flooding from index downstream to Monroe. The river will flood many homes...cover much of the farmland...close most roads and overtop most dikes. Flooding will occur all along the river including headwaters...tributaries...and other streams within and near the Skykomish river Basin. A stage of 22 feet on the Skykomish river corresponds to a phase 4 in the Snohomish County flood program.
My home care nurse just called. She was on her way here and became stranded when she was surrounded by three feet (deep) of river. The sheriff came to rescue her but her car remains in the river. They are preparing to close US Highway 2 because the water is rising at such a fast rate....... and this flood has only just begun. I guess I won't be seeing my doctor on Friday....
All that water, Bill, that is not so good to hear. While I am sorry your nurse was not able to come out for her visit, I am glad she was rescued.--(Too bad about her car though).
About your Drs visit on Friday, Even if you are not able to go to the drs, you will be able to go one day soon. but the water does not negate how well you are doing. The water will just give you a few days more rest, that is all. Think Positive.

I posted a few flood photos down in the Gallery. Hopefully I will add more sets as the day progresses. I wish I could show you the view from the north side of the river, but I've never even seen a flood from that side, myself.
A tow truck driver who was returning from another rescue saw Jenee (my nurse) standing in the river with her car and brought Jenee and her car all the way home..... and refused to take a penny for his time and efforts! It's good to know that there are still good hearted people left in this world! Thank you, whoever you are....
bill, is the river over the bridge then, right by the rail road tracks?
Sultan would be under water before the river ever reached the main bridge, but there are some logs beginning to jam up against the support columns. That could be catastrophic! The new bridge they just built half-way down that road was supposed to be high enough to be flood proof but it was under a foot of water this afternoon....

Probably some engineer wonder sitting in an office 2,000 miles away decided that a bridge the height of the new bridge there was "plenty Good". because he didn't think i t was necessary to come out or send somweone out to actually survey the area.
Crazy..............
