hey--that isn't (or wasn't?) too far from me. I went there when I was a sweet young thing---my boyfriend (at the time) was stationed there.
DH was never in the military.

HD was stationed at chaneut also.

Air force.. However it was before we met......
One day he said he wished I would of been with him..

Chanute AF Base stopped being an air force base in 1993.---

We were out there after after 1993, we used to go out west on vacation. 8 or 8 times.
The one trip he took me there to see it , and it was a housing project.

Everyone gocked as we drove down the street..

well that is their problem not yours. I bet it was fun to go and see it. I would like to see it again myself.

But somehow I don't think my DH would understand.

The west is so massive . And flat .. Unlike the east with hills.. Hard to discribe it to others.
Really was a joy by car like we went.

well some of it is flat.

But if you had of gone into Missouri there are hills and some beautiful
country side there as well. The "Ozarks" area is a beautiful place.

now what you see once you get into Kansas is FLAT for sure.--at least the roads I drove on thru it.

But yes it is some beautiful country---as is your east coast---The last time I was that way was around 2000. We took a vacation to Virginia Beach.

Your correct , I was mostly refering to Ohio, Iowa .

Were to whyoming , colorado , dakotas, kansas, missouri, forgot them all.
Very much fun to see it by car........But took longer..

yes I think it is very fun to go by car.

----well if you are the "rider" it is.

we havn't really taken a nice long "road trip" of late,--hummm perhpas we need to one day soon.....

The west is beautiful .. Every state has something outstanding.
Up in the dakotas we found TERRY REDLING ART CENTER.. Went there for a free concert one year, Manneheim Steamrollers......awesome with all the sound effects..........
I think each year there is a new band......free.
I love his paintings .. click on his www.TerryRedlin Art center.
Put a fortune in the presious building inside.
And it has a Park to picnic at with land all around it .

In Iowa we found THE GROTTO OF THE REDEMPTION and oodle more.

Sis was to come for lunch and cake, she ended up having to go to doc, for a rib cage hurt. The here sis in law called, brother in law died.. 83........
I said stay home..........

Son decieded he and his pals would shingle the house roof, son borrowed out truck. Tuesday.
Yesterday hubby was beside himself, why? He bought 2 cards for me 2 weeks ago and hid them in the truck........LOL they are over at sons.........He had the truck at work......I laughed hard.However he did have the present here.

I got so many nice cards and gifts and wishe from friend, relatives an most of all my Seedy friends...........

ThankS TO THE WHOLE STAFF HERE AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED MAKE MY DAY..

NOW I WAIT FOR THE MAIL..........LOL
