Jimmy - I hope you see this!!! My husband gave me 2 small Dana's Delight for Mother's Day last week. I am wondering if you still have yours, and what kind of care do you give these plants?
I am going to put them out in the pond - he bought them in the expensive pond store near here, but when I went back for info on them, the boss was out on a job, and the 2 young boys working there didn't know which end was up!
Lynne that is great need pics like Diane said. Mine died when I was in the hospital along with most of my plant's. Tom probably has the info on them will look it up for you. I know they need to stay moist will let you know.
ps I was feeding my Parrots and Sugar Glider when Diane (nuged) me. lol
Meet Clyde my Male Sugar Glider. Clyde says Keep it organic.
Jimmy - I can get into the website, but every time I did that search, it said no matches found! Wondering if one has to be a member to get results there?
An update of my plants - I took them inside a week ago, which is a very good thing considering we are having a VERY early snowstorm today. So far they seem to be doing ok in this computer room, but I hope they make it ok, now that the heater has been turned on. They are currently sitting in the same pond water that they grew in all summer - I have a watering can full of this water in the house, but I thihnk I should bottle up some more because these plants cannot take city water.
They got most of the new growth when summer was winding down here, which I found interesting.
Oh wow these are arguably the most beautiful of the hybrid Sarracenia. Dana's Delight is a beautiful hybrid, producing slender pitchers over two feet tall with heavily ruffled red and white hoods. The red is so bright that it almost looks fluorescent! The Pitcher Plant is definitely the easiest of all the carnivorous plants to grow and is excellent for beginners.
Hey TomR - I hope you are still on here. Just saw you had posted about venus fly traps.
Last week each of my sarracenia dana's delight plants put out a leaf unlike all the others with pitchers at the ends. They are flat leaves with a teensy rounded tip. Could these be flower stems? If not, then what?
Those leaves are called "phyllodia". They are NON carnivorous leaves that are used by the plant to help get more sun usually early in the season but can grow any time.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
