as some of you already know, scott and i are planning a road trip. pretty much it will be straight up i95 to dc then over to frederick, md, then up us15 to pa. we will be making lots of stops, and since i LOVE meeting members, if you live or work anywhere near this route, and would like a chance to "meet us for coffee", let me know. i will be making some detours, including out to loz, and we are hoping to go over to williamsburg, va. so those are areas that might get looked at too.

let's plan jiffy and rose dud's 2008 road trip!

Can't wait! Just gotta clean out your bedroom (ie: hide all the 180 presents SOMEWHERE.)

don't hide them Loz, perhaps if she sees them she will help you wrap a few.

she won't do that carol, some of them are MINE!

But do tell me Jiffy----how are you at wrapping? You could wrap for your place to sleep.

Sounds like a fun trip,,

any particular reason for the trip like visiting family ,,??
or just site seeing and arranging detours for member interacting??

Should would be nice to sit at Loz's pond and drink Coffee and chat ,, wellllll sweet tea for you ,,, oh Oh and meet her mom and dad,, I'd love to meet them I think that would be a very pleasant visit, I told Loz once that If I ever got up that way to visit her ,, her mom and I would "throw Down" in the Kitchen and we would all pig out!

Will you be anywhere near Dodge?? That would be a cool visit for sure,, maybe She'd give you a ride on her motorcycle or her new Tractor,,

What states are you going up thru and what main cities will you be near,, maybe it would help to list them to enable those living on your route to determine if a visit from you is possible, or sites some of us could recommend,, those little areas or historical sites that aren't well known are sometimes the best sites to see ,

Come on over and drink some Coffee Diane. I'd like to see you and mom throwing it down in the kitchen so we could pig out.

ok, let me take the questions in order...
rose dud's high school reunion, to pick up a piano from rose dud's grandmother, and to visit my mother in law
we are going to do some of that too. i told him we haven't ever taken that trip just to have fun, this time we are going to have fun if it kills us!

sitting at loz's is lots of fun, very nice i've been there twice, rose dud once, he and mark get along very well. and faye is sooooooo nice. i really enjoyed sitting on the back porch, watching the hummers and chatting with loz and faye. looking forward to doing it again

i really haven't looked to see how far apart loz and dodge are. loz is a 2 1/2 hour one way detour for us, but well worth the trip. i imagine dodge is an hour past that. we have to see about timing and the price of gas

we will go up through sc, nc, va, md, and to pa. while we are in pa, we will get up to see hisgal2 and the kids. rose dud gets along well with her husband too. we'll probably take mom with us up there, she's met jenn and stephen a couple of times too. we are contemplating making the trip north a little more winding and swinging by charlotte to see sheri. we have family outside richmond and in williamsburg we are going to stop to see. loz is a given, so's jenn. a couple days at mom's. that will take about the whole trip.

both of us have been through the blue ridge/shanendoah mountains, but not together and not when we had time to look. so we are contemplating that too. just a bit of everything.

I will live vicariously through your trip this time. But in future trips, we just might caravan.

loz and i were tallying up the member's i've met, and counting folks who've left us, or died, i'm up to 9, plus my family. 3/4 which are members.

where in NC, SC, and VA. I can get to either of those states. When are you traveling?

we are traveling the week before halloween. planning on going up i95, unless we decide to go through the mountains. then we'll start in charlotte at your house :wink:

we are really trying to figure it out now, we want to see as much as we can.

I live in Monroe but I can get to Charlotte.

how far are you from i95? we debated going through charlotte, but the price of gas has nixed that. but we could meet you somewhere on i95. maybe?

I'm a long way from 95. Maybe 2 hours.

i was afraid of that. charlotte is 5 hours from here. and way out of the way, but i soooooo wanted to sneak in a visit to you on this trip. maybe next time.

Me toooooo!!!!! Jiffy is already on our calendar!!! I have told the kids they are coming...not that they really understood a single word I said, but Maddie at least knows I'm excited! It's been a while since we've seen Jiffy and I was sooo excited when she told me they were coming up (and this was MONTHS ago!!!!).


BTW, Jiffy, if the weather stays the way it is right now, I don't think you'll be outside chatting with Loz! Its cold here already and I know that Loz lives in the mountains of MD...must be cold there also!

how far on 95 are you coming? Does that make sense? I'm trying to figure out where you'll be.

Yeah, it's cold here. We can sit at the kitchen table and look outside though if you want Jiff.

By the time Jiffy gets here she'll be FREEZING. Supposed to get down to 35 tonight.

Supposed to go to 32 here tonight. I was just outside with the dogs and it feels icy. We have a freeze warning here tonight also. And of course our heat isn't working...go figure! LOL!!

Just adding to a previous part of the thread here....Dodge lives way way in the western part of PA...about 4 hours west of me.

She's not west to me because I'm really west. I'm out in the panhandle of Western Md......I'm close to the PA line though.....Near Myersdale PA if you find that on a map. Mark grew up in PA just across the border near Clearville PA.

Brrrr.......it IS cold outside. Just 20 minutes up the road they are under a freeze warning.......the weather changes here so much depending on which direction you drive in.

Loz, we own a time share that might be near you. Do you know where Massanutten is? I am not sure that I spelled that correctly. I think we drive through the pan handle to get to it...it is in VA tho. I always like it when we get to the pan handle tho...the speed limit goes up!

I was pretty sure Dodge was out near Pittsburg...that is still west from you. I got my address books out and can't find her address...I was sure I had it...she sent me candy once! Mmmmm!!!

sheri, i will get on i95 at the south carolina/georgia line and won't get off again until i get to washington dc. except of course for food, gas, fun and potty

I'm trying to figure out what would be the closest spot to me. I think 95 comes through Florence, SC which is about 1-1/2 hours from me.

I can'nt wait to see you Jiffy,and even though It gets chilly at night,It does get up tothe high sixties in the day,so we can still sit out. Have a safe trip.

You know you could skip the in-laws and just visit with me and Jenn and Sheri! Just kidding.....

well the route has been re-routed, so i'll be going up through charlotte, so sheri is a go, gotta call her and get that planned. and i think i'm going to get to stop and see tk and so if anyone is on the route between charlotte and hagerstown md, and wants to see a jiffymouse and a rose dud, we are willing to veer off the route by 25 miles or so. not more than that. give or take.

we will be leaving georgia in 17 days

How cool! I wish I lived in the area so I could meet you. Unfortunately for you to visit me it would be a long, long detour.
