James I am talking of the Hi speed Internet service.
My dialup computer is 827gm

I am under the impression that ones needs a faster computer to take on a better speed.....Someone else trade theirs like mine, for a speedier one.

Do you have any info on that /

Mine is 4 years old in Feb.

Thanks alot

high speed internet will work fine on an older computer; the speed is done though the TYPE of service.

For example; 56k will be fine on a 486, and will be just as fast as a brand new computer bought today. As such, cable/dsl would be the same.

Well, wireless is just a term as to how you connect to something...

Example, Wireless Printers can be one of the following:
- Wireless NETWORK
- BlueTooth
- Infrared or RF

Now, in the case of a "wireless" ISP it'd likely require some schnazzy network card that they'll give you when you sign up; it'll just plug into your computer... Hopefully their Tech will do it for you lol...

Dodge--I am far from a pro when it comes to knowledge in computers, but I think all you have to understand is what the service you want is going to cost you per month. I am sure the provider will set it up for you. and to make sure they do/will if/when you call to talk to them, make that one of your questions. When I got my DSl the provider sent out techs and they fixed me up and made sure it was working well before they left. Installation was free, (ask about that too) and they rpovided anything needed to fix me up. they then left me a card with name & number so I could call if I had any problems or questions. I have had not 1 problem. clap

I like asking you questions, pro or not ......
Your correct about that.

Now this one is the Mainbranch of our 911 Emergency system....You know fires and ambulance....It is not someone fresh out of college trying .
It has to be efficient for emergencys.

Yes ....My friend has it ordered.they come and give her everything it needs an put it in...
I think $30. to install
I am not jumpin the guy till I find out how she makes out .. She lives 30 mile away.....So were weekly buddies on here.. She grew up with me.

We are very careful and hash all things out online.LOL
Lots of fun.

Someones getting jumped? Sweet, I'll grab the popcorn heart!

But yeh, likely the antenna is stored outside, a "lead" (likely coaxial cable, or "cable tv wire") leads from that to your house, then to a small box by your computer, which has an "ethernet" port that connects to your computer...

I'll post a photo in a sec on Phone Port vs Ethernet port...

Red box is an Ethernet port, the one to the left of it is a Modem; as youc an see, the ethernet port is about a third larger than the modem port lol

Lol it's because the word "C-r-a-p" is censored, so the board doesn't make the url lol... so just copy the url, and replace [censored] with the word (don't have anywhere else to upload lol)
