in addition to repotting a bunch of plants, i also wandered through the garden shop at home depot. they had a few things on sale i couldn't live without. some of them actually jumped in my buggy while i wasn't looking.
like the 3 cactus bowls, 12" and regularly $9 for only $1 each.
here they are with some of the plants i got too. the oyster plant aka Tradescantia spathacea 'Tricolor'
and the jassmine i got for kate.
and the angel wing begonia we got to share. i split it
I think those blue/purple flowers are torenia (wishbone flower), Jiffy. Boy you got some great deals. Is that a star jasmine? Can banana trees live outside in your zone? Am I asking too many questions? I like the oyster plant. I've gotten a couple of those and wasn't sure what they were to care for them properly. They died.

gret bargains! our HD and walmart and the like never cut prices on any garden supplies. You can find dead summer bedding annuals at walmart in december still priced at the original price. At the risk of sounding sounding like a know it all i find that usually the bananas that are sold are usually Musa basjoo...hardy to -29C if mulched properly. I know people who have them up here in Canada (on the warmer west coast) who keep them outside all year.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

never too many questions.
the oyster plant is a relative of wandering jew. i can keep them alive, just can't root them. the good news is that they multiply on their own pretty well.
it said asiatic jasmine, but the picture was star, so it will be something similar.
banana trees, even big ones that produce, can live outside if mulched heavily OR if planted in a mini-zone. (usually they are planted up against the south of a house. this one will stay potted for a bit until i figure out where it is going. they do well enough to mulitply like rabbits here.
does the torenia set seed well? i liked all the plants in the bucket, that's why i got that particular one. and i'm going to try my hand at growing coleus cuttings.
I haven't had much luck with torenia seed. They are mostly an annual even here. And not usually one of the less expensive 6 pack annuals either but a 3-4 inch pot single plant annual. Coleus are as easy as geraniums (pelargoniums) but indoors for winter.

i didn't think about that plant being kolanchoe diane, but i bet you are right! that makes me happy because i gave my last one away that was flourishing and killed several since then.
I agree with the torenia - I was going to say that before I read all the responses. Also... I think the one that Diane said was a kalanchoe is really a penta. Looks like the ones I have here.
