I know what you mean..here alot of the veggie farmers have hooked up with the markets in town, so now you pay the same price at the stands as you do at the market, so why stop and shop in the sun for the same price you get at the market. why touched

I'm not stopping if I'm not going to get a good deal.

haha

If you were able to buy 12 ears for $1 then you were getting a great deal Suzy! Everywhere here is 12 ears for $5. I really don't think that is that bad either.

12 for $5 is a deal. They are $1 a piece in the stores at the moment. Not sure what they are at the Farmers Market this year, it changes every year.

Oh my...I never realized how expensive it is here until i've seen your prices.

I went grocery shopping today. Eggs are $3.50 a dozen now, Milk $7 a gallon, flour is $1 a pound....it gets more expensive each month. Yet the pay isn't the greatest.

Eggs are around $1.75 a dozen and milk is $4.50 a gallon. I don't know the price of flour per pound because I don't buy it that often. lol I have no idea what the pay would be like their compared to ours but it must be frustrating for everything to be so expensive!

Well, the average job here for a woman is about $8( cashier, waitress etc...) and $15 for a man(Truck driver, carpenter etc...).

12 ears for $3 is cheap I think!

Tam....waitresses here would not make $8 an hour. They make minimum wage and then they get tips! Cashiers is the same I think. I believe that Wal-Mart pays minimum wage starting. why What is minimum wage now anyways? I thought it was going up to $7 or something but I don't even know. When I was in high school making minimum wage I believe it was $5.15 or so. why

it's 6. something for min wage, last time I worked a job where I made min wage it was 3.15 shock, now I feel really old. I was cashier in a gro store. I worked once too as a waitress for min wage (the 3.15) plus like you say tips. I looked good then and got about 300.00 a week in tips, people don't tip that good anymore

yep 12 for 3.00 is not bad for corn, glad I didn't buy alot it didn't taste as good as the corn I got before.

I don't see how people make it on min wage

Yup, I had a friend on income assistance with one child(she left her abusive husband), they forced her to work....she ended up moving in with her parents because she couldn't afford to work when it came down to it. By the time they took off taxes, child care and travelling she had nothing left to pay rent.

Minimum wage is just under $8 here but the cost of living is high as well. It costs more for food here than it does for a house payment.

I worked in a place that laid off (and called it somethign else, but was still a lay off) and you'd be off about 6 weeks and get called back, you could draw unemployment and this girl I worked with took it everytime she said she came out 75.00 a week ahead because she didn't have gas and baby sitting coming out of it (she was divorced) I took it once I had jessica, it was worth it, you were home and got time with your kids.

they also use to offer a house wife shift 9-2 I wish they'd do that now

I know it has to be tough on min wage

I wish there was a place close to here that was hiring, we live in such a rural area that every little business is just family run. Not worth the travelling cost to work in town.

Wow a 9-2 shift would be great for mom's.
