After all the great advice I received, I was able to grow basil, rosemary, lavender, sage, chives and parsley successfully! Now I just need some advice on when to pick them, dry them and then how to store them. Thanks again!

That's a great link. It has all the information you need I think. Once thing I found with my chives is that the first year they were really to small around to really dry into the ones like you get in the store. But the second year after much composting they were much much better. And becareful that you don't get any of the flower stems in with them. Those are very thick and heavy and don't taste good. That is if you are harvesting after they have bloomed.
