I copied this from the internet someplace. Insecticidal soap is generally used as a 1-2% solution (1-2 oz. per gallon). Mix soap concentrate in a clean 1 gallon sprayer. Plan to treat in the morning of a warm day when the plants will be able to dry before evening. Spray plants with a coarse spray of plain water from the garden hose. Next, thoroughly spray plants with soap solution covering all surfaces. Finally, wait 30 minutes then wash soap off with water. The last step will prevent soap solution from damaging tender leaf tissue.

I cannot find the site back but I thought, when researching how to get rid of spider mites I read I was to make a solution of 1 tsp soap per quart of water.---you spray the tops & bottoms of the leaves of the plant, you wait 24 hours and then you wash off the plant with plain water. and then I think it said once a week was adequate.
Note: Buy a liquid soap and not a detergent. Health food
stores have liquid soaps, such as Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soaps.
This was another ratio I found:
Insecticidal Soap Spray
1 to 2 tablespoons liquid soap
1 quart water
..............confused now????
sorry I cannot help more---
