Between my house and the church there is a nursery. Now that's a bad place to put a nursery.

Today I couldn't resist and I just had to stop. I ended up with six herb plants. Purple Basil, Oregano, Rosemary (the ground hugger not the upright), dill and of course one that I can't remember the name of.

So I came home changed and planted all but the dill. It will go on a pot on my deck. I don't want it strangling all my other plants.

Then I watered them in well since it is a nice muggy overcast day out there with temperatures in the 70? (they must be kidding I was sweating like a pig out there). But it's all done now. I put them on the sunny side of the tree bed for now because I haven't even removed the weeds from the location where the knot garden will be when all is said and done.

I forgot the sage. It's got a rounder leaf than the other one I had but that's ok.

And I also have wooley thyme. There is still one that I am forgetting. I'll figure out what it is sooner or later.

I bet I do sound like a kid with a new toy. I can't help it. It is great to have a place to plant things.

It rained last night so no grass/weed cutting today. But there are several chores I could do. I just can't get going yet. I will though.

I'm starting to feel more perky. That might mean that when it cools off this evening I'll start planting again. I haven't quite decided yet. Sometimes by then I'm totally immersed in something else.

I just traded for:

Lemon Basil
Purple Opal Basil
Sweet Italian Basil
Lettuce Leaf Basil
Cilantro
Parsley 'Giant Italian'
Thai Siam Queen Basil

I'm getting there. I'll have a wonderful herb garden after alittle while.

Well the two different types I've tried I like very much. But I've also heard that bunnys and deer don't like it so I thought placing it around things that they do like might deter them alittle bit.

I would like to have as many herbs growing in my garden as possible so that I can use it in cooking and drying it to give as christmas presents.

Definitely, last year I dried sage (I have to put water in the microwave with this one or it catches on fire), cinnamon basil, thyme, chives and oregano.

You should see the number of empty spice jars I've accumulated so far. It's an entire box full.

Oh I almost forgot the last one Marjarium(?) spelling isn't right on that one.

Anyway I love herbs and this is definitely going to get me going.

Thanks Dodge.

The nursery bought thyme didn't make it. At least it looks pretty dead. But you know how some plants are they do that before they come back. So I've left it in place and we'll see what happens.

the Oregano is putting out new leaves so I'm very thrilled with that. Hopefully by fall it will be looking full and healthy.

The chocolate mint is nice and healthy.

the Sage has comeback nicely.

And the purple ruffled basil is looking fine. It has started to bloom so I'm pinching it back each time I go out there.

I didn't walk far enough up the bed to see if the others were doing alright or not. Maybe next trip out.
