The Aliens have left the building and they all headed off in different directions.....
Oh ohhhhhhhhh....
Diane, you didn't have enough rocks to fill your box so I am adding a few of my own favorites (they will be the shiney ones) The Great Council of gnome held a special meeting and unanimously voted to entrust the care of the gnome Stone of Learning to the elders and scholars of the Rock Tower Village. The stone is over one million years old and as you study it, you may learn many secrets about Cedar Hill as it was back in 1,000,000 BC It's fragile and it is definitely a one of a kind!
OMG Bill!!!! * Wiping misty eyes* GrandPooBah will be Humbled to have such an historical Stone entrusted to the Rock Tower Village,, ( We'll just surprise him! Mum's the word ) it will be regarded with honors and will have a special place to be displayed,! I have a feeling I will be learning a lot from the gnome Stone as well,,
Your awesome Bill!!!!
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
I am in such awe--Bill--such a wonderous thing to entrust to the "Rock Tower Village". Your generosity is unequaled. I cannot wait to see where they display it--and you will be rewarded i am sure.
Diane--I am betting that the Vilage and all its inhabitants are going to be so surprised.

Opps !!!!!!! ,,,,,,,,,, My apologies Wild Willy I haven't seen you around here for a bit , But I know you still know all and see all! . ... and I stand corrected,,
You're awesome Wild Willy!
Yep Carol a surprise indeed it will be !! It's possible it will be displayed inside, in not wanting to risk anything happening to the gnome Stone outside,

I know the guys won't appreciate this but you ladies will.... The restroom at The Melting Pot is a clean, modern and most gracious space.
The folded paper handtowels (heavy and soft) are folded in a basket...no paaper towel dispensers or blow dryers!! The trash goes in big, lined wicker baskets...the faucets etc. are a modern delight...flowers in vases....and sent sticks in a vase. The floor and walls, just great....All you ladies would enjoy going in there!!!
The experience of dining there was fun...A heating unit in the middle of table..they bring a hot pot to the burner and a tray of cheeses and spices, and mix them one at a time in the pot for you....then bring bowls and trays of breads, vegies, and apples to dip....then take that all away and bring a pot of cooking broth with a tray of different meats (we even had some lobster), to cook.....then they take that away and bring another pot of hot chocolate, you select which kinds you want, with a tray of cake bits, strawberries, bananas,.cheesecake even, to dip. I was sooooooooo stuffed. Oh, and I had a mixed drink called a Yin Yang....it was creamy with white and daark chocolate, melted ice cream and Baileys and a chocolate liquere. YUMMMMMMMY.
Then we walked to the falls!!! This falls into the river and is right in downtown Spokane. Took pictures, but that does not do the sight justice.
I leave here early in the morning and tomorrow night I will rest, but Thursday I will download my pictures and start posting some.
Sounds like you had fun Shirls!! We have a Melting Pot here but not near my house so I have not been to it. I will definitely have to try it out. I have heard good things about it!! Have a safe trip home and rest up!
Sounds like a very yummy dinner, Shirley! I once went to a friend's house and had a dinner just like that - first the cheese fondue, then the oil and meats, and then the chocolate! We all rolled out the door after eating all that!
I'm so glad you got to see some more falls. Can't wait to see all your pictures!
Hey Rumor.........Tell CIndy we had a black out on here last nite..James was googling in the Hostess Pit......He is madly in it for our girls......He likes girls photos .....send some.
Cindy I've got to get to bed in a few mintues, but I hope to see you on here soon,,(meaning within days,, take care of yourself get plenty of rest and don't over do,,and Prayers for you to keep your strength up,, along with Big Bad Dad, , Rachel when you see your Mommy give her a big BIG hug for me!
* Heyyyyyy Shirls got home tonight ,, well... she should be home by now I think she got in late afternoon,, , Get rest Shirls,, it's been a while since you've traveled across county,, I'll give you a call Thursday or Friday There are some pictures you'd better not post!,,,,,,, remember our CH agreement,,
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Well I'm Not Cindy or Shirls BUT I've talked to Shirley and she is still regrouping, and will be posting in the next day or two,,,,, in the mean time here is a video of Lola In the beginning of this Video I believe Shadow is yawning and then Lola calls him,, " Come here .. come here boy" and then a subtle low he he he.. and whistles,, your volume has to be up pretty good to hear her talk

I always enjoyed hearing about Fred's Shed, and one day Diane and I walked through the woods to see it. I thought it was so cool!!! The forest is creeping up on it and I loved the large slabs and patches of moss on the roof!! I would have liked to look inside but the weeds were pretty high all the way to the steps. We were both afraid there would be snakes!!!

Fred lost his sight (85%) and has several other health problems that make it very hard to come to Cedar Hill any more. The last time I visited him, I begged him to come up just to hear the birds sing again..... for a day, for a week or forever.... He refused... Fred still lives in Seattle. I miss him a lot every summer...
Here is the Hummingbird House from first pulling into the driveway. This is what I first fell in love with when I joined the forum, and the first thing I read about and copied (Wild Willies story of building it!)
I felt so agitated inside, I don't know if I was moving or not, but I felt like I was wanting to get out of the car and run to it!! I was going...'OH, OH, OH!!!)
Here was the front. I love that Honeysuckle roof!!!!!
And I think this picture kind of shows how it 'feels' inside; secluded and cool, relaxing and still.
shirley, that last picture almost captures it perfect. the feeling in there is one of indescribably coolness and comfort without being constricting. like a cocoon that doesn't touch you and is wide open.
It wasn't until I got these pictures uploaded that I realized the rock formation over the years had taken on a face( facing me ,, Not a pretty face but still a face,, when I took a different angle of the same rock there I see a different face profile can you see different faces in the same rock here at Rootbeer Falls??
profile
WOW I didn't notice untill I previewed this post you can actually see both in the first picture,, the second pic I posted that face sits on top of the first face I posted,,
this pic was taken out of the window of the Envoy crossing over a small bridge on the way to Rootbeer falls,, It would be so awesome to have so much of nature's beauty to very close to where I live,, Bill is Blessed to have so much of this so close to him,
I believe this is the place where Bill said ( look in the back center depth of the pic) there used to be a bridge,, as you can see it's covered with Moss,,

Thanks Bill for explaining to us.---And I agree you have such a talent when it come to plants and having the right vision for them.--I am in awe just looking at the pictures.

You are welcome !!! and I am sure it is so much better to see it in person.
But it does not look to me as if you have not managed to keep it very neat this year---it all looks beautiful to me---and yes I realize your focus this year has been on Cindy and her health---but I still think you did a splendid job on all the gardens at Cedar Hill---well all the ones I have seen in pictures at least. Everything looks fantastic.

I thought it had to been a while, it doesnt happen over nite. Same here about wish we knew this stuff years ago.
You have a great system going and growing. Just want you to know we appreciate the things that you show us on ch. Some days I set back and just think about all I learn on here..
It was great for me to actually be walking around there, in person! It felt like I had been there a lot!!! Like being IN all the pictures I have seen. I felt like...'where does reality begin and the pictures leave off?'... it's hard to explain what I mean....it all felt totally familiar even though I'd never been there. Weird, I know.
When Bill and I said goodbye at the train station he asked me if he had gotten me addicted to Cedar Hill....well, YEAH, I always have been!!!
Here is the picture I took of my alien piece of driftwood in the bird garden that I was always talking about. It really is there!! And I got to see it up close and personal!!!
And here is the bar in Bubba's. We sat at a table in the back, but the drinks I consummed came from this bar!! WAY TOO MANY!!! Between there and after we got back to CH.....I was SICK the next day!!!!

That's true Shirley would say Ohh OHHHH I've got to go see,,,,,,,,, and she would walk right to it,,
This is my fav tree burl ,
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Yesssssss they both are big,, I kept looking up in the trees too,, hoping to see one or in the forest when we kinda sorta went in there,, basically everywhere we went I looked in at the trees ,, I guess I was Burl watching,,
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Really cool pictures of some great burls and flowers and bars, etc!!!
It amazes me that Bill can grow all those beautiful flowers what with the deer there, and I have so much trouble here! My friend even sprayed a new coneflower with Liquid Fence last Saturday evening, and when she got up in the morning the entire plant had been eaten!!!

Diane, when you showed me that picture of the black rock at the falls I thought it looked like a crouching panther drinking, or an evil demon!
That other picture was such a deep hole and the falls ran waaaaay down in there and continued on under that mossy log or whatever. My picture of it isn't nearly as good as yours!!
Thanks SHirls,, It could be because I was sitting on that side cloest to it in the car,, Isn't it funny how one doesn't see what all is in a picture as they take it,, I had no idea the face in that rock, I just thought it was cool how the rock jetted out like that,, and I was thinking "mannn IF I were younger and more steady I would climb up on there and sit on that rock and let that water rushing by splash upon me,," But the older I get the less risks I take,,

Good morning! I have a few minutes before I have to leave so I thought I would show you three pictures of the two deer that Diane and I got to see, sort of up close and personal.
Bill and Cindy had seen them in the yard, but we were in another part. By the time they got to tell us they were gone. So, Diane and I went up the drive to the road and there they were, just across the road.
We looked at them, and they looked at us, then just kept on walking around and eating!! They never did run away!!
Thanks Ladies I am really loving your tour. The wonderful world of digital cameras, and Bill's wonderful Hospitality all wrapped into this garden helper.
this is MOM NATURE IN PERSON........
Being a country girl .I learned to appreciate nature .. We got it right here.
Diane - I LOVE those rock pictures, and the faces in them - I, too, am always seeing faces in things! Like the tile in my bathroom, in wallpaper, etc...
What was the name of that pink flower that you liked so much there again?
Again... I don't get how Bill can grow all those beautiful flowers with the deer there, and I have so much trouble here?!?
Really nice pictures Shirley and Diane!!! Again... I don't get how Bill can grow all those beautiful flowers with the deer there, and I have so much trouble here?!?

Thanks Lynne,Dodge and Carol. Glad you looking at them and enjoying them,,the flower is ,, phygelius (cape fuschia ) there many many colors of them hummingbirds love them as do butterflys,, I brought home 4 starts One of those didn't make it the other three are doing great so far,,! Maybe the deer isn't eating Bills flowers because there are so many growing wild everywhere even in the woods they can eat all they want out side of the yard, http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=uYK&pwst=1&q=phygelius%20cape%20fuschia%20flower%20colors&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
and Lynne Noooooooooo No bloooms yet They need to get established first,, and it's hot here so I took a chance putting them in a hot ground even tho I planted them around 5 am,, it's still too hot here I should know better than to put a plant in the ground this time of year,, BUT I did put it in afternoon shade all morning sun, they haven't turned brown, and are still standing up and strong so I take that as they are doing great,
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Diane, today some of us went to Nashville, IN which is a touristy, crafty place. Along the whole front of one building was a long row of your wine colored Phygelius!! I was going 'OH, OH, I forgot my camera!!' Sorry. I stood there thinking of you and knowing that you would have enjoyed seeing them!!
Here is a picture of a big, moss covered rock at Bill's. There is moss everywhere on CH and in the forest on other roads. Along one road I saw it looking like it was dripping off the tree limbs.
Okay I know My name will be Mud after posting these,, but a double dog dare got the best of me,,,,,,,, besides,, We all Miss Cindy , and a couple of little snipet clips of her will bring us smiles,, probably laughs,, We were watching the Rocky horror picture show, She knows every line,, every song,, every dance, in that movie, we were more entertained by Cindy reciting word for word and being so animated we were cracking up,, She caught me a couple of times,, filming her,,,,,,,,,,,
* OH My Gosh,, Cindy is going to Kill me,*,,,,,,,, It was sooooooooo good to watch Cindy being so animated and funny and loving what she was doing after all she's been thru,, she still has her fun loving spirit and it was a joy to see it!!!!
these are extremely short .......... seconds ,,,,,,, but worth it
I have watched these dozens of time and I still crack up !
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Yeah it was Shirley,, watching Cindy that night brought lots of laughter and smiles from all of us,, Her and Lola made us crack up Thanks Lynne glad you got a kick out of it to have seen Cindy act out the entire Movie was hilarious!!
I think I'll end with those clips,, I don't have to risk Cindy being too upset about the video clips,, , cuz only a handful is viewing this thread anyway Uhhhhhh does a handful count Cindy??, surely not ~,
Bill and Cindy for seeing that Shirley and I still came to visit right after a very hard time life handed you,,,, The time spent there really was enjoyable,, very relaxing,, talking, walking,, eating,, now that's a true vacation, ,! it's always a joy to visit CH, I could have just sat there all day to just watch the hummingbirds,, I hope by our coming you were able to somewhat escape for a few days from what you've been thru these past few months ,
Shirley it was an absolute pleasure meeting you, you wasn't a stranger at all . seems like I've known you forever!
I have a lot more pictures to go thru and edit and put into a slide show ,, But I'll leave with these last two,,
Cindy still acting out the Movie,,
and Shirls and I at the airport I'm headed back to TX,, don't look very happy about that either do I??
for 3 life long friendships
