When is the best time to put down grub killer? I thought it was early spring but my husband just put it down a few weeks ago and we have a huge amount of japanese beetles. Would it be better to apply it early in spring?

I usr black pepper to deter grubs...I apply it when I plant my seeds, and every few weeks after that.

I don't think grub killer would work on beetles....

I realize that the grub killer for lawns won't kill the beetles. I just wondered when the grub ex should be applied to the lawn to eliminate the grub worms, so they get killed before they turn into the beetles.Anyone have a suggestion?

Sorry, my fault. We don't have Japanese beetles here. I thought you meant cut grubs in a veggie garden...

There are two types of grub pesticides. So you will need to be careful which one you are applying.
One is a preventative which should be applied in the early spring once the grass is actively growing. This application lasts for a full season. The curative application should only be made when the grubs are active in the lawn, as it only lasts in for a few weeks.
