I am wondering how those little tillers work, you know the ones for about $200.

I always cut and chuck the top sod, so it would only be needed to work the ground. Has anyone bought one or have any advice to share?

I have one I called it a baby tiller, it's great for in between rolls and small beds, but if you are doing a large area you'll be happer with a big tiller. It will go down about 6 or so inches and it's lite weight easy to start and all that. I do love it but I'd also like a big tiller to go with it. (But I probably couldn't handle a big tiller, my arms are not as good as they use to be)

I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once.

I'd love a big tiller but money wise if I get one it'll have to be the type that you are talking about....I should really look for a second hand one since DH is good at fixing things. Maybe I could get a larger one at a decent price that way.

i want one myself. but i'd be happy with the little one. it won't do quite what i want, but it would be good to have something i can manage.

DO NOT get a front line tiller. Get a rear line tiller. They are about $300 more, but do a much better job and you can control the depth easier.

we had a small tiller that my dad gave to Rod so he could till my garden. I thought it was the handiest thing. BUT my lovely DH gave that to my youngest DD...not that she will ever have a garden--I am sure she probably gave it away already....

I agree. But I cannot use one & DH didnt want to do it for me, as he has no interest in gardening. When my dad was alive he would drive his tiller over & do my garden for me.

So now a days I have a small garden that I can just till up with a hoe.
