thanks so much for posting this! I have been meaning to look it up as to when we'd get ours, but you know how that goes. you always think of those things when you are away from your computer.
I'd never do the direct deposit thing....and 'that's all I gotta say about that'. (but, the reason why... I believe you made apparant above).

Yep, I found that schedule a while back---but don't be surprised if you don't get the full amount that you thought you would.

For a married couple filing jointly we THOUGHT we'd get $1200, well it's UP to $1200....we got almost $900 in actuality. My friend called me the other day to tell me that not one person she knows got back what they thought they were going to get. I said, ahhhh---it's that "up to" clause they threw in there. rspb

Enrique, if they do give it to you what will you do with it? grin

Hi all my kids got theirs direct dep just fine- and so did my Mom--- finally- waited almost a month for her to get it... we got our in the mail last week too- we all got what we expected to get too... mine went in savings till we find out if hubby's union goes on strike or not in Aug... really would like to be able to spend it but can wait till then I guess... really want to get hubby a shed for the backyard- we need more storage space- with the Tahoe taking up so much room in the garage we need to get some of the stuff out of there.

Wow, your tax system completely confuses me. Here when I fill out the taxes, I know exactly what we'll be getiing right down to the dollar. ...and they have to have all our rebates back to us by April 30th.

Oh and this is the first year in Canada that they allowed us to claim our children, wasn't much but it was still a first.

We kept ours in the bank to help pay next years local taxes - they really bite!!!

Tamara - we couldn't claim Amy on this one - really lost out because the kids had to be under 17 by a certain date. She won't be 18 until August, so we just missed out.

Well Tam, with regular taxes we always know....we go in and have them prepared by an accountant...and we know down to the cent what we're getting back.

This tax return here that everyone is talking about is an extra check. Bush passed it into affect as a Stimulus check to stimulate the economy. They want us all to go out and spend this extra bonus money we are getting. That's why I wasn't sure exactly how much we'd get back. Because it said up to $1200 if you filed married and jointly. Which we did.....but I didn't realize it said, up to.

Heck with stimulating the economy though, we WERE going to redo the bathroom. Now we are saving it. The way prices are rising I think we'll need it.

Oh, now I understand. Thanks for explaining.

We get a tax relief (GST)check 4 times a year like that...$150 per family equals $600 a year then we also get a special family allowance for children under the age of 18 (depending on your income) that comes in on the 20th of each month....

Wow, if they did a family allowance here we'd be doubly in debt as a country. We're already what? Several trillion in debt. rolz It's good that you get that extra money. thumbup

Thanks Diane for posting that list of dates up there!

Mine should have been direct deposited on May 1st but it never got there.

Then I got a letter yesterday saying I would get it on the 23rd, which is the snail-mail date, so now I'll be checking my mail come Friday!

I hope that "up to" cr*p doesn't keep my check from being at least the paultry little sum it is suppose to be!! Of course ANYTHING is better than nothing I guess. grin

I got mine on the 9th, the full amount, no problems with direct deposit . Aros got his the week before me, the full amount plus $300 for each kid he claimed, again, no problems. Maybe it's a food thing we're not married so we were both able to get the full amount.

According to the IRS website, I should get back monies! And, according to the mailing schedule, my check mailing end date was May 16th. Yep, snail mail, still lookin' for my check. I'm sure not holding my breath. lol Won't believe it until I get it, in hand.

sooner or later the government's going to run out of credit and then they have to pay off the debt by raising taxes.

My will probably catch up with me sometime next year. Since it didn't get direct deposited and I'll be moving before the snail mail date. Isn't that just my luck. I could have used that money with the move.

I don't know the regulations where you are Tammy but here you fill out a special form at the post office and all mail gets re-directed for 30 days after filling it out. They give you that much time to notify all your 'mail senders'.

Doesn't hurt to check it out.

Is anyone actually stimulating the economy by spending their checks, or did the plan fail and most are banking it like we are?

They did a survey here and hardly any are banking it,, most are using it to pay one or more bills they have on their backs, Some said they are going to put it all on the electric bill (pay ahead)for the summer months,, ,, some are using it towards their tuitions for schools, car repairs, necessary things!
Me?,, I'm going to get myself something nice I've wanted for a long long time that will last a good while and get good use of, I've been researching it, and will post it when I get it! notme lol thumbup

banking ours----with the 'economy' in its current state we think it is the only thing for us to do. But like Diane said--it will likley go for bills of some sort along the way.

I like the idea of $5.00 a week in a jar but I think i would be 'dipping' into the jar far too often for there ever to be enough in it for a Canon--
