Hey everyone!

I just bought another bag of soil for my patio pots. It smells funny. To me it smells like plastic. Think it's safe to use?

I'm not a soil expert...but it should just smell like...soil.
I like m.g. but sometimes get the $3.00 dirt from the dollar store.
will you be growing veggies in it?

No veggies. But it doesn't smell like soil to me :\

I admit they're cheap bags of soil, but I've bought it before and it smelled right.

it might have gotten hot and absorbed some of the plastic vapors.

if you aren't going to grow veggies, i'd air it out and see how it smells tomorrow. if it's ok then, i'd use it for the plants and flowers.

Yup, I'd think the smell would be all gone in a day or so, and it should be fine if you're not growing veggies in it.

A few days later it smelled WORSE. Ick. I threw it out and bought a different kind, and it smells the same (from the same store).

I can't figure out what it is, but it's gross. When I touch it, the smell lingers on my hands. It stunk so bad that I didn't even like going out on my patio.

Now I've gotta find a source that doesn't smell tainted.

Bring it back to the store, it might be contaminated.
