Oh for sure we'll get some Maine lobster for Willy! I may even send him out there to get it, lol Can he swim?? and dive?? I better not, that water is c-c-c-c-cold.

He was so excited he just hopped on the bus with the kids! shock

I gotta go pick him up at the school, he'll be a major distraction with all those kids.

(just kidding! touched)

TW is going to have a great time seeing life from a younger viewpoint at your house - can't wait to read about all the trouble (ooops I meant FUN) he gets into there! yikes

I went to pick Willy up at school today and it took awhile for my daughter to bring him to the office. I was thinking maybe he thought he was in trouble or something. When she finally came in with Willy in her hand she had a funny (odd) expression on her face. You know the one, "oh shoot, I'm in trouble" look. I'm like , "Oh my God, what did you do to Willy?!?" shock

She told me that after she shared him with her class, she passed him on to my boy, Matthew, for him to share with his class. Everything went well in there but it was "clean out your desks" day. All the kids cleaned out old papers and snack wrappers and such and threw them into the 5 paper recycling bins out behind the school. Welllllllllllll, Matthew couldn't find the pouch that Willy came in after that and thought he must have thrown it into the bins by accident! boohoo

OH MY! I was horrified to think something bad would happen to Willy or his possessions while on my watch. I marched her outside with me, her protesting the whole while that she was supposed to be in class, and made her start looking with me through all the recycling bins. While we were pawing through the sticky, gross papers that third graders accumulate, out comes Matthew with a sheepish grin on his face and TW's pouch in his hand. tapfoot

I told him he was grounded for life for stressing me out like that. Having TW is a big responsibility , more than I realized!

After that I brought him to work with me. OF course he jumped right in and thought he could "help" me.

Pictures are coming, I got to figure out this camera I borrowed. I am getting my daughter's camera tomorrow, which I am much more familiar with. thumbup

That is ABSOLUTELY correct!!! I was sooooo nervous when I had TW out and about here - kept checking to make sure I had him - in my pocketbook, in the car, etc! When Amy took him to the city for the day, I held my breath til they returned!

Of course he went directly to the back of the bus.

Here he is in school. I don't see him studying or taking any tests. Of course , he was a major distraction. lol

There, much better! lol blush

I was working in cushions last night. I told my coworkers all about Traveling Willy and they got right into it. They begged me to take their picture along with TW.

[Linked Image]

We stuff the cushions and stitch them closed, then seal them in plastic, box them up and ship them to customers. You can see one in the background which is a "lakeside" color settee cushion.

Willy was so bold and picked up some scissors to snip some threads for me. He thought he could do what I do with no training at all. Silly Willy........Here he is with Becky....

[Linked Image]

Those are hammock pillows ready for the fiberfill, colors from top to bottom are: watermelon, canoe green stripe, lakeside, and barely seen is vintage red. Also , in the background you can see some large rectangular dog bed inserts that we blowfill into and then stitch closed.

Oh man, I'm so relieved that T. Willy survived his trip to school! haha

I know when I had him I too was worried about him....he's so little it can be easy to misplace him--especially when he's taking a nap and can't yell at you, "here I am". lol

Cool pictures of him at your work too.....Maybe you could put him to work for a few days so he could make some traveling money. haha

How cool that he is with Mel!!!

I, too, was always checking to make sure he was OK, and with me, when we were out walking the trails and on the golf course!!!
It's hard not to worry, when TW is your responsibility.
And he truly is exhausting!!! notme But lots of fun! thumbup

I just think it is so cool that with each person he has visited he gets to have such totally different adventures!!! clap It's making a great story (hint to Diane grin)

Well, the weekend was almost a complete washout! rspb

Friday was nice though and the guys from the Muster team, "the Quahogs" came to take their handtub out for a car wash fund raiser. It is an antique fire engine that is now used for competitions all over New England. They take it to Old fashioned fireman's musters and hand pump it in the alloted time to see which team can get the longest stream of water. I thought you might like to see it, as they are keeping it at my house to do some repairs and painting to get it ready for the upcoming season. Willy sure liked it! thumbup

We haven't been doing too much exciting around here. We've just been enjoying the nice weather and exploring nature. Quiet walks around the gardens and woods by the house yesterday and today. Tomorrow we will go to the beach, weather permitting. Here are some pictures of spring in Maine............

You know, I thought of that after. He was in my shirt pocket walking all around with me and I never even put him down to take HIS picture! What a dope I am! blush boohoo egad I will get him into future pics.

He's still with me, I am waiting for further instructions, but I would like to have him at least through friday. I am going to Boston , to the
Science Museum, with my son's class and would love to take Willy with me. I will DEFINITELY get some pics of him at some of the sites in Boston. kissie

Dodge, they are not johnny jump-ups. Another name I've heard for them is "Dog tooth violet". Try a google image search, maybe they have better pictures. The reason for the "Trout lily" name is the leaves are mottled just like a trout fish. Johnny jump-ups do not have foliage like that.

Today Willy and I braved the light rain and went to the beach. When we first arrived at one of my favorite beaches, we saw a bunch of clam diggers out on the flats. I've never seen so many digging in one spot before. Either they just re-opened that clam flat or they are expecting it to close or many other areas may be closed right now.

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

when you first drive onto this peninsula/island the clam flats are to the right and the beach is to the left over the dunes.

Can you see Willy?

There he is!

Coming up over the dunes we spotted some more guys gathering clams, these guys were after the huge surf clams. Not good for steamers, but they are the clams that can be chopped up and used for chowders. They are the clams that you buy in the store, canned. You can only get them when the tide is extremely low, the surf washes them up. I've also heard them called "hen clams".
