Loz, where did you get the white bleeding heart? I can't find them anywhere, not even at the nurseries around here, and not on the online nurseries here. I bought one a few years ago at our old house (i couldn't dig it up for the move, the ground was still frozen) and it came up every year, but didn't bloom

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
I love, love, love that purple one Diane! I finally got around to taking some pics of the blooms I have so far. And then photobucket finally got around to uploading them for me so here is a link to my spring 2008 album so far.
Sheri, those flowers are beautiful! I love all the clematis from you and Faye. Mine won't bloom for months now, but it has more growth this year than I've ever seen on it! Should be a good year for it.
Those are really great pictures everyone! The colors are all so vibrant and pretty!!!
Dodge the other name for ajuga is Bugleweed. It can be very invasive - I had a small patch but pulled it out a few years ago. Many people have problems with it taking over there lawns. The flower is such a pretty color though!
Now it comes to me.....yep it is here also, but the plants are skinnier. Speaking of invasive......SOmeone sent me chocolate mint last year. I went out to look for it the other day, low an behold it was invading the entire bed. I dug it out an put it into a pot to control it.. I have spearmint here and it is very invasive.....i didnt want to repeat that. Hd is still up in the air on that one..
yes Dodge - mint is extremely invasive! I, too, put my apple mint and chocolate mint in pots 2 years ago. This year the apple mint is growing up and out of the hole in the bottom of the pot!!! It's ok though - I love the smells - I don't cook with them, but love to walk by and rub the leaves and take a sniff - very refreshing!
I learnt that somewhere on here I guess.....Put it in a pot so it doesn't run around.. I like the smell of the chocolate one.
No I dont cook with mint either. I also have a pretty catch of Rosemary, and it gives me a headache to smell it. Guess I will donate it to my sis in law who loves to cook...... PS that is only because her sisters have a restruant, and each trys to outcook the other.....
Many herbs give me a headache too Dodge. The only other one I grow besides the mints is some lemon balm - got that in a plant trade a few years ago. This year it is growing like gangbusters, but I really like the smell of that one too.
It is just called apple mint. I used to have pineapple sage - the leaves REALLY smelled like sweet pineapple when you rub them - unfortunately it's not perennial here, and hard to find and expensive when you do.
Pineapple sage is supposed to be a favorite of hummingbirds because of the red tubular flowers, but it didn't bloom here until well into the fall, and all my hummers had left for parts south by then. Too bad!
This is Nigella Persian Jewel. The first year it was lavender. Last year it was pink and blue and this year some are white and some are blue. Go figure.
