I have guinea pigs who go through an awful lot of newspaper and shredded paper. I hate to throw it all out when it might be good "brown" material for the compost. Is this a good idea, or a no-go because of the ammonia? Thanks.
You sure can use that in the compost pile. From what I understand, the rule of thumb about animal waste is you can use the waste and bedding of animals that are vegetarians, but not to use the waste of animals that eat animals.
I read something earlier about using lint from the dryer. Is this ok. I have lots of lint! If I was sure it was all cotton fibers in there I wouldn't question it, but what about man made fibers? (or am I spliting hairs here?)
