When can I plant a tulip bulb outdoors in zone 7?
I got a mature plant around Valentine's Day and it's foliage is about dead now. (for this year) But I have never had a tulip before and wish I knew when it would be alright to plant it.

I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once.

mine are around an inch out of the ground I transplanted them when they came up so I'm not sure whether they will bloom or not this year. They are usually pretty hardy for me.

if they have not bloomed this year, they will at least green up this year.

I was just given a lot of tulip bulbs. I was wondering the best way to store them. I would perfer to plant them late fall. It is also possible that I will give a few away.

Just put them in a empty hanging basket and hang them in a dry spot till fall.

I too have a tulip question:

On Easter, recieved 2 pots of forced tulips. I have 12 bulbs in all.--the blooms are spent now & I was wondering, do I cut them off or let them go brown & do I wait to plant them out until the fall since they have already bloomed, or do I plant them out now???? What about watering???--or do I lay them out, I really have no idea here--any and all help will be appreciated.

dO NOT CUT THE SPENT BLOSSOMS OFF . YOU must let the plants get lots of sunshine and water till they dry off themselves. THat is how they get food for next years bulb. You can let it like that in the pot till fall if you wish.
Do not cut them back.

Actually, it's the leaves you don't want to cut off. I'd cut the spent flowers off to stop the plant from putting any energy into seed making.
