Recovery is hard. She needs to take it easy, very easy. But they should be working on the pain control for her. Prayers for a speedy and full recovery.

Cindy was sitting up in a chair when I got there this morning. While I was there, they removed 3 tubes and a wire and took away her "Magic Button". I made a wise crack and was warned to watch it or she was gonna jump out of her chair and kick my buttt. She looked better and obviously felt a little better but still in a lot of pain. She graduated from chewing ice to real? food today.... red jello and beef broth.... I got the first hospital bill already...
wow, that is fast with the bill- what will they do hold her hostage if you don't pay up? I am so glad she is making progress and gets real food - even if it is liquid, bet it tastes good after nothing but ice chips... Praying she is doing a little better each day and gets to go home and get wonderfully spoiled by Bill.... Nana
Has she no recourse to health insurance? My last bill was over 7 thousand and I wasn't even an in-patient. Still hoping for a quick, complete recovery. And still missing her.

Great news about Cindy sitting up and "eating"! I hope she continues to progress this nicely and is at home with Bill and all her fury and feathered friends very soon!
As for the bill... don't even get me started!!! We are having such problem with our insurance company this week...
But Bill - I very highly suggest that you scrutinize that bill for items that Cindy might not have ever received - we've been there, done that for some very pricey things in the past!

well that's a great sign!!! Uhhhhhhh did she fight them for the magic button??

'good thing you didn't double dog dare her,, she might have thrown the first thing she could reach, It's good to hear she has her orneriness back!

I'm soooooooo Happy to hear she's looking better, and feeling somewhat better it shows her body's healing! I hope they've still giving her something for pain other than just Tylenol.
Have they gotten her up and walking yet???
Thank so much for the up-date Bill! NOw I believe you can rest a little easier knowing she's on the mend!!

ohhhhhh but Diane... Tylenol 3, otherwise known as Tylenol with codeine is VERY NICE!!!
Shoooooooooot I can take 3 tylenols and have the same result as 1 tylenol with codeine,, When I hurt I want something that will totally wipe it out quick!

Usually hospitals have payment plans/ schedules that you can do....like a credit card does. Also, if there is no insurance at all, you can say something about that and see what they say. Alot of times....at least that we have found...the prices for things are high because the hospital automatically assumes that they will get $$ from insurance companies. They totally over charge insurance companies.
On a better note, soo glad that she was sitting up and at least making threats. ;) Please give Cindy a hug from the "4" of us. We are thinking of her.
Out here in Penna. if you dont have insurance, you dont qualify for some of the thing you might need......Life the Chemo or radiation.. NO insurance no treatments here. We dont get our bills for at least a month after an operation etc.. But yes it is big.....Make sure and itemize it . I sent for the paperwork on mine and they got rather nasty.
what about an emergency operation? i know there is a law oout there even if you don't have any insurance and its an emergency they have to treat you regardless if they tell you no say that to them and watch them weep theyll do anything to avoid a lawsuit, before gardening i wanted to be a lawyer... lol.
pleaseee... Betty Crocker aint got nothing on me =)
scott, they will treat, they did. but they are still able to try to collect something on the bill.
depending on the state, and even which county in the state, there may be ways to get some or all of it forgiven, i'm sure that the hospital and social workers there will work with cindy.
Glad to hear that Cindy is feeling a little better.
The bills that come are never fun but I would think that there is some agency that could work with Cindy and help her out at least a little. It is worth a shot!
Bill yes Jenn is right about payment plans--a friend of mine, who had no insurance, walked in to the business office & said well, look, all I can pay you is this much a month-- & they said ok as long as it is in here each month--(they kinda have to)-- BTW--she & her DH owned a big farm & most likley had the $$ in the bank to pay the bill off---and I would of thought from their last name the hospital would of known it--& they still let them do it that way----
also, if this is not to be an insurance claim-- first when you go into the business office (or you can call) you make it clear it is not to be an insurance claim of any kind--and the bill may well be reduced, but you may have to suggest it. or make them an offer thay cannnot refuse.---I saw that done too The friend who I am refering to up above told me the hospitals have 2 sets of charges--one for people with INS & one for people without.
and Lynne was right about looking over the bill--when I had my youngest DD -- I was double charged for stuff when I only got 1 of some things I would look it over well.
and thank you so very much for the update---it is good to hear Cindy being back to her old self a bit-- baby step at getting well are still steps in the right direction.--- Send her our love & let her know we are thinking of her & wishing her well.
Bless you too Bill, take care of you too. AND speaking from experience (still not released from the Dr yet after having 3rd surgery on 12-27-08--)make her take care-

I do have to say I'm surprised you got a bill soo quickly! We JUST got a bill from when I had the emergency cerclage put in while I was pregnant with Maddie!!! Still haven't seen anything from her birth! Eeek! LOL!!
yes, bill, you will have to make her take care. i know from watching her with prior surgeries, and the problems she has had from being hard headed.... of course rachel will help, but when rachel goes home, you may have to put a leash on her!
when I had my youngest we had no maturnity Ins., AND I had a C-section.
I was in my room 3 days after--and had company, as this was during visiting hours. The head of the billing department came into my room & asked me (in front of my company) why I was still in the hospital & made some reference to my not having ins.
well I was upset, to say the least & crying hysterically (hormones ya know) & so I called my DH--Rod called the business office & when he got thru with this man---well he knew he had been told-- (he did this primarily because he upset his wife.) the nurses on the floor then told my DR & SHE wanted to do the same to the man--but my DH told her no, he had done enough for the both of them.
The real kicker---this guy didn't even know that I had had a c-section!!

The main thing is Cindy is improving a little each day. The bills are secondary and they'll be a pain all their own,, but I'm glad to hear Cindy is feeling a little better,, and Like Jiffy said,, She is going to have to take it easy and let her body heal and don't force anything,,, we all know just because we feel good, doesn't mean we are healed completely!

Our flight is booked so I will take Brennan to her for 5 whole days. Hopefully that will help her. I couldn't count how many times she has said, 'I can't wait to see Brennan's face the first time he sees Cedar Hill!' She'll see it soon now.

I'll show him. I bet you he'll look all over the place for that fairy and unicorn when we get there! That reminded me of something so precious my Mommy used to tell me when I was little. When it would rain and the drops would hit the ground and splash up she would tell me that was fairies jumping down from heaven to dance for me.

Tell Brennan he must believe before he goes in there and if he's lucky he'll catch a glimpse of something magical,, You can't help but feel it the moment you come into the drive way,, it's just the serenity of the land , being back at Cedar Hill will help Cindy a lot! ,, The beauty of the views and surroundings have a healing factor! Rachel you'll see it's awesome!! It just gives you a sense of peacefulness!

I can't wait to get there. I want my Mommy so bad. I hate feeling so helpless to do anything for her. I'm so grateful Bill is such a wonderful gnome. I know with him looking over her I don't have to worry.
