My youngest brother has autism. I can't let hin near my garden, seedlings, or tools& supplies because he'll make a mess. I think I'll introduce him to gardening by letting him plant radishes. Then I'll move him on to bigger things.

Radishes are an excellent choice for a beginner/child gardener. They are quick to sprout and quick to grow and can be done early ! And they are so pretty too!

Beans and peas are good too.

I'm growing 'Wando' peas. I'll let my brother sow some 'Kentucky Wonder' beans.

Many young children also enjoy growing leaf lettuce because it grows quickly and is very rewarding... The leaves are harvested individually without pulling up the roots and the plant keeps producing. It can be a fun project to go pick lettuce for dinner each day.

Plus, a line of leaf lettuce growing is very beautiful.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.
