I have provided some pebble trays for some of my larger green leafy plants, but the water in the trays gets bad real fast and I was wondering what to do. How can I prevent this. When I first put the trays together I boiled the stones and have tried bleaching over night with a good rinse. They seem to want to start the evolutionary ladder in my living room...

Any tricks to extending the time between the maintenance of these trays.

is the water like getting green and algea? I do know ther is a product you can buy that you put in water and it stops algae from growing but i don't know if it will kill the plants or not you would have to read the bottle but it can be found in the aquarium section at walmart... someone on here will come along with better information than me.

let them dry between watering. don't add water until the tray is dry. some algea is normal but that will keep it down. and a little bleach in the water won't hurt the plants either.
