Valarie, John, Chris , Rod & I are going to Chicago tomorrow. We will spend the night as saturday morning Emily will be graduating from Concordia University Chicago. (formerly called C.U. River Forest)
She will have a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Biological Scince with a minor in Psychology. She wants to go into research.
This last year she has been working in the lab at Concordia, with one of her professors as her boss.
If I am lucky enough to get pictures I will post it/them !!
I am so Happy for her--she has been thru a lot--and still managed to graduate 1 semester early. with a very good GPA--If/when I know more--I will "brag" some more. see you all Sunday

It's such a wonderful time for you all! It sounds like she did very well with her studies, and to work with her professor sounds like a great bonus! And to graduate a semester early with a terrific GPA - I would be extremely proud of her too!
I hope she continues to do well in her future, and that all good things come her way!
Another Milestone in Her Life packed full of memories,, We'd love to see pictures BUt what's more important is that her family will be with her to celebrate her achievement!!

Congrats to Emily, and you must be so proud as a parent!

We made it back---we left at the beginning of a snow/ice storm & luckily got home before the snow got too deep.
Now for more bragging--thank you in advance for allowing me--I am so very proud.
Emily graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.74 to 3.89--GPA)
She actually did better but
1) The school does not count the last sememster of classes because they do not know the grades of the lst semester until the last minute.
2) (Em was in California 2006-2007 school year) and they do not give you benefit the grades, just the credits, when you transfer classes in from another school--(and yes she cleared each & every class with Concordia so they would go towards graduating) So Emily had 64-67 hrs of 4.0 that did not get figured in---there were 2 sets of summer classes besides the 2 semesters in Cali that she transfered credits from---. but she is done--she is out & she is home, and we are all proud. All good things
Thanks to everyone for their good wishes.
I only have a few pictures--but I will post them in here tomorrow. Then you will be able to know what Emily looks like.

Sounds like Emily worked VERY hard to get to where she is today, and you have every right to brag about her terrific accomplishments!!! I can't wait to read more about what she is up to, once she's settled in her career![/color]
Here is Emily in the procession--when we got there--we had to sit in back--but luckliy we got a place to see her walk in--Valarie has the good pictures, but at least you can see what my baby looks like.
Biology has a deep gold tassel--

I sure will, Lynne---now, about what she is gonna do ???? Reserch was the main idea, I thought--
BUT tonight when we all went out to dinner for a celebration, she was talking about getting her EMT certification next---So I do not know what the big plan is but I will certainly keep you posted.
Thanks so much---all of you---

I know how proud you are...and when one of us has something like this to be proud of, we are ALL proud of it, too. I guess that's because we are a family here, instead of just a forum.

I am VERY proud of her for that. Not to get off topic or on a bandwagon here, but if someone is EMT certified...even if they never go into that occupation...it is a good thing to have that knowledge. I am an EMT...I went to school for 4 hours a night, three times a week...for many months, to get my certification. When someone completes that class they never forget what they have learned, and even if they don't go into the paramedic/EMT field, they have the knowledge to save a life...and that might mean the world (literally) to someone one of these days. It might be a stranger who they've never met...it might be a family member...but the knowledge is there to use if/when the time comes.
Congratulations to Emily.....
Bless you Cindy---it means so much to hear this. I love how my family has grown --it is so very nice to know & have you all on here
