can be made from colored ones, if you use bleach water to soak them then rinse them with a "hard" spray. stubborn paint can be rubbed off with a cotton swab after soaking.

i needed a couple of hundred one year for a project, and bought the colored ones of all sizes at yard sales, end of year clearances, etc. and then soaked them.

just don't do it in your bath tub. the paint will "flake" and float and stick to the tub, a bear to clean lol

Never thought of taking the paint off of the colored bulbs. Thanks for the tip.

That is how I did my original ones. I rinsed the paint off with plain water. But it came off very easily. I don't think I had any stubborn ones that needed a q-tip. Those were back quite a few years though (like 30?). They were made a little different then.

i tried the plain water, and adding a little bleach to the water helped. i think they made them more chip resistant because of kids why
