I have about 3 things to put finishing touches on (i.e buttons, trim threads, finish sewing ribbon on etc.) then I'll get some pictures posted. I'll also be posting progress pictures of my "swap" quilt.

The tree skirt is 60 inches in diameter (without the lace)

Well I finally got my oldest DD's Christmas tree skirt quilted--well in one direction--. notme I thought this would hold it in place until I get to finish it at the beginning of the new year.--although I will leave the quilting pins on it to help hold it in place as well.--

In the second photo I have it placed so you could see how I quilted the first half. (I guess i should have just took a pic of the back huh??) blush

Now I will start to quilt the youngest DD's tree skirt, so she will be able to use it under her tree this year as well.

Thanks Tamara:
When making these for the girls, I let them pick the materials.
Valarie wanted hers to be all one type, while Emily wanted hers to be a patchwork of several different kinds of Christmas materials.

When I get to quilting Emily's I will post a picture of it as well. (right now it is in the basement inside a box that is under a few wooden chairs)

Your tree skirt is wonderful! I really like the blue lace edging, that really sets off the Christmas fabric. thumbup

Carol, you can get the kits at Wal-Mart to make treetop angels, it comes with a cone, porceline arms and a head and a pattern for the dress. I bought one and made the matching angel for the skirt.

I love your squares Christy! I didnt envision the fabrics together like that. You have a great eye for putting them together.

Glenda: The edging is Blue Lace. At first I went looking in craft& material stores for it--but is was so expensive--so--i went to E-bay--got just what I wanted but for a lot less money.

Wrennie : Thank you so very much for your kind words--I really enjoy making these but they are so time consuming.

Christy: I so LOVE your quilt blocks. You did a great job--are they to be part of something or are they going to stay seperate?

yes, I do Tamara--and I shop there a lot--BUT I needed lace that was at least 1-1/2 inch wide--and this lace extends 2 inches even after it was sewn in. thumbup lace that wide was like $2.53 + a yard at the stores--& I needed in excess of 5 yards. ON E-Bay I paid $5.00 for all of the lace I bought-(& it cost very little to ship it since it weighs not much at all)- and I think I have enough of the same kind left to do another skirt. !!

We also have a new store in the town 5 miles away. "Alco" it is a smaller version of a Wal-mart so we do not have to go to "walmart" as much now--- thumbup

Although there is not so much lace & such--perhpas they will stock such things soon(?)

We have Alco here Carol Jean. It is a good little store if you just need something small and right away. It is nice to not have to run all the way to Wal-Mart. I like to shop in our Alco every now and then. They don't have the selection but it is okay.

nope--not the selection--but in some areas like rugs, floor tile & say pillows the ALCO is nicer at least than the super wal-mart in "Litchfield"--not as big a selection--but i think the things they do have are nicer--

My long awaited "swap" quilt is now being shown. clap

This is only the quilt top because I have not decided what fabric to use on the back yet. Some of you may see some fabrics you bought so I hope you recognize them. lol

It measures about 72x72 inches.

Why not use a blue bedsheet for the back??
In our area the quilters use bedsheets for the back..

They claim to be pros.. I arent.

That is so pretty Glenda. Great work.

I always use a flat bedsheet for the backs of my quilts, I always get a size bigger and use the extra fabric for pillow cases that match and binding trim.

I got my quilt almost done. I will make it for Christmas. I only have to finish hand sewing the binding down. Only have about 1/4 left to do. I was surprised to get so much done today. So glad I am almost done so I can start the new year with a new project. clap

Thanks for the suggestion of using a bedsheet for my swap quilt. It's not common in my area but I had thought of it.

I just wasn't sure a sheet would be heavy enough to not show the top through it.

I'll have to check it out with some of the sheets I have now.

Thanks again.

Sometimes I buy twin sheet sets on clearance. I keep the top sheet for the backing and take apart the fitted sheets and cut into quilting pieces then sew them all back together. I also use those satin edged heavy blankets for the filler instead of batting~our winters here are freezing.

That is another good idea......

Using blankets inside........I did manage to find a quilt ON sale for $40 and like the feel of it.. I mostly make the ones to look buffy and warm not a quilt tight look...

My 2 friends do loads of them on quilt frames and one sells hers for $500.
She entered a quilt show and lost only by 1 point or something...However she is the very pushy type who spends all her time quilting....

I like doing many things....Crafts, sew crochet, photos......outdoors.
I know you must be cold there......How costly is your fuel/
