My Blackberry Lilies are done for the year. Now my question is are they biennials and are basically dead now or does it just take them two years to bloom and they will continue to come up and bloom in the future?

I'm potting up all the flowers I want to take with me so I need to know whether these are dead or just dormant. Also if they are dormant can I just store them barerooted in the vegetable crisper?

Inquiring minds want to know lol.

My book says little about the BL. says they open one at a time in summer and each lasts for a day. Fruit pods follow splitting open in fall to reveal shiny black seeds.
transplant BL in early spring from containers or from divisions. Divide every 2 or 3 years. Mulch in winter to prevent frost heaving.

\ not much help--I am sorry

Dig put in pots. I do noth think you can store the roots. They grow really good from seeds. If you have some of the blackberries I would just take those and put them in a bag and winter sow them they will come up next year.

mine took 2 years to bloom so I'm thinking I want to take a few of my mature plants but you may be right. I may be getting greedy.

I agree not greedy. We love out plants. I am planning on moving soon and you should see what I am trying to dig up. I have some bushes and trees I am eyeing. Now that is crazy greedy. LOL!!!

nope, no-one is greedy----personally i took a start of a lilac bush--and do youknow how hard it was to convince THAT to grow?? and then I took my chives, coneflowers, my daffodils & the wild violets that i had transplanted to the flower beds along my house--so no not greedy--if you love what you have then I say TAKE it !!!

PS I also took my columbine but it decided not to live tears
