mooo.............

Here is the recipe off my head ....I use for apple , peach or pie that needs a crust.

2 cups flour
1tsp salt
1 cup shortening (Any)

Just jell all the shortening together with the tongs of your fork......When is looks like say peas .............Add cold water little at a time and mix it all to a smooth texture.
Do not mix long.........Only to make a nice dough.
Roll out whatever you like..

Works for me..
Oh I put my dough on a piece of wax paper to roll it out and transport it to the pan......easier.

Don't use warm water .

Use cold water and only mash the shortening to the size of peas.. DO now mix it like cake or some thing.. Less mixing , the better................

I use to always over mix and got leather..
Wrong.

People try too hard......

Let me explain again.
Put the flour in a bowl......
Scoop out the shortening an drop it in that.
Take the tongs of your fork and drag it out in long strides

Till it is all thru the flower......no big deal

Then add the cold water and kind of mix in circles till goes into a ball.

Just enought to make it a bit firm.

I roll mine out between wax paper so there is no mess.. Flour the paper first on the bottom Put another piece of paper on top....roll.

To put it into your pan remove the top paper.
Place it over the pan......Then remove that paper..

just dont over do mixing.

Thats perfect ......It is looking nice an golden on top......

You did very well.......None of mine are perfect in shape.......I have some really old pans with the groves on the ends which helps.....
But no one cares as long as they can eat it .......

I make many different types. Depending on the season......I freeze apples and do lots of that in the winter ....Can peaches or freeze for pie. Blueberrys, blackberries, raspberry......
Whatever I can lay my hand on.

I am very proud of you........What did the family say??
