I came home from work one day to find this on one of my flowers. Must have been a good meal too because it sat there for at least 15 minutes and let me get good and close.

So that's what kind it is! Thanks. It seems that we see very little butterflies around the city except for the little white ones. I was very excited to have attracted this visitor. Hopefully I can get more next year.

I have mainly pipevine and eastern tiger swallowtails here. Maybe also spicebush swallowtail--I have a lot of spicebushes. I'm hoping to attract the zebras also. I have to young paw paw trees, they host plant for zebra swallowtails.

Maybe it's too windy here? I'm really not sure why we don't see many. I love going to the butterfly houses that we have here though. They land on you and everything, there are so many of them and I love them. I have some seeds that are supposed to be good for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds so we'll see how that turns out this year. It's almost warm enough here for me to start planting seeds!
