I have an emergency...

I have had this beautiful Tapestry plant for about 7 month. about a month ago I noticed a leaf had what looked like a bug problem so I spayed it down and quarantined it for a week. It did not seem to do any thing so I took it out of quarantined and back to the light.It is getting bad faster by the day and I have not found any answers. I am hoping that some one here knows...about 20 leaves are now affected.Some leaves are not - seems to be the older ones.



It really looks like a virus rather then a bug infestation.



Oh and I am glad to be back since the evolution of the forum...

Welcome back and ewww that looks bad huh? Not sure what it is but I just wanted to tell you to hang in there and be patient, sometimes it takes a while for the right person to see your post.

I will start cutting back the plant - with a heavy heart, but removing the leg, to save the life, may be needed...

Are they hard or soft?? scale can be brown or white/cream colored, hard and soft Looks very simuliar to scale to me,, have you tried removeing them by scraping or use alcohol and q tip to remove?? IF it is scale you can use 1 tsp alcohol , i teaspoon murphy's oil soap to a quart spray bottle ,, BUt I would remove the heavest infected leaves immediatley,,

I have looked at many photos on scale and they all seem to be on the plant not as if a part of the leaf had bubbled up. They are soft and when removed leave a hole in the leaf. They are coming from the inside of the plant leaf. They are not on the under side or on the stems. I might have to put one in a bag and and show it to the local green house I got it from.

you might. but i know when my rubber tree had scale, the young ones did what you are describing. honestly, if you have a university with a botany dept. they could probably help you better than i.

does it show on the other side of the leaf?

No it does not show on the other side - just the colour removed from leaf.
