MIL has a passion plant. We really really like it and are wondering if we can bring it into the house for the winter. It's been going below freezing for a about a week now and today we just brought it in........it has new growth on the ends of it's vines. What do you think? Can we bring it in and keep it for the winter??? I don't know much about this plant or if it is a perennial or if it needs the cold season or what. Any help would be great!

Yes, I have been bringing my huge vine in for about 4 years now.
I keep it in the basement by the sliding glass doors - it gets the setting western sun. We rarely turn the heater on down there, but it does quite well.

The ONLY problem I have, is that one of our cats just LOVES to eat the leaves and it is usually bare by the time I take it back outside in the spring!!! Last year I cut the vines back dramatically in about February, and it grew like gangbusters outside this past summer.

Don is bringing mine indoors today. I'll try and take a picture later.

I've tried taking many many cuttings from this plant, but so far have only managed to get 1 to grow - and that was just pure luck.

By the way... what color are your flowers?

The flowers are a light purple.

Stephen's uncle owns one of the largest green houses here in PA and his mom went down to get plants for the deck for the spring/summer. Well she brought this plant home and I hadn't gone out to see what she had gotten, but she kept on telling me about this "jelly fish" plant that they had gotten. Here, she had forgotten it's name and thought the flowers looked like jelly fish, so she renamed it. Hahahah...I took one look at it and said "this is a passion plant!" "Yeah! that's what it is!!!!"

Anyways, I'm glad it will do ok during the winter. We'll have to find a place for it where the cats can't get it. They already think that all of the peace lilies we have here are a buffet. :)

Jellyfish plant - too funny!

Don brought mine inside this morning, and already Salem has been sniffing it all around!
It's much larger than last year - hope she doesn't get a tummy ache!

My thought too Jiffy. I brought mine in the other day. it is huge, but I cut it all off so I wouldn't have to deal with the brown spills. It already has tons of new greenery on it. I am amazed how fast it grows when i cut it back.

One question we have about the plant. On the stem of every leaf are 2 tiny little bumpy things. They almost look like the ears on Shrek. We are calling them nipples for now because we have no clue what they are! Anyone know?
