I'm still working on it. I want independent studies (home schooling-work at your own pace thing) but she is swearing she will go to school and stay there. We will see.

I have done it with Jonni before, also. In middle school. But that was a 'listening to directions' issue then. Not attendance. It was a good ending to the game tonight. Now I'm bushed.

Sorry I missed you today, Nana!

Mr. Bill certainly named you right! Super Granny indeed.

I had two medical appointments this morning and I am already exhausted just after noon. Lots to do around the house today PLUS the litle touch ups on Maxi's costume.

PLUS I have to make him a Career Day shirt for school tomorrow. IF I can find my Sharpie!

It has been a very busy week already. Appointment after appointment for me. And it's only Tuesday. I want Friday, NOW! Every department everywhere is backed up because of closures from the wildfires. The commerce of life is slow as molasses right now.

I've never lived in a fire zone, Tina, and hadn't given any thought to things like department closures. What a mess that must be to get caught up again once open!

I want a nap, but the phone has kept me up! Now Maxi will be home soon...

My new girl left my two 1/2 gallon jugs of milk at the grocery store this morning and refuses to go back to get them! Since she paid for them with my money, the agency is going to reimburse me. But that still leaves me without milk!

Well, schools were closed all last week due to poor air quality and so were a lot of other businesses of office type things. So they are bogged down with makeup stuff now. It is tough going when you are trying to get some things done. I will persevere though.

Tina, I know it has got to be so rough for you right now. I'm so thankful you and your family are ok. I can't imagine how scary that would be. Brennan's ball coach was in CA last week. He was telling the guys about helping a lady with her luggage and asked her if she was going home or heading out of town. She told him 'neither'. Her house had burnt and she had no idea where to go. It put chills over me.

Hi again,
I am busy copying rebate forms for the oil change hubby got yesterday- .. home again too- Carrie has an ear infection -they gave her more amoxillian. and orders to take 1500 mill every day... then Joseph called from school he has a sore throat-- beginning to think I should have gone to medical school....LOL!
Joe is almost finished raking the leaves in the back yard..3 trees worth and who knows how many bags - not counting the ones he shredded and used as mulch for the flower and rose beds...
There goes the dryer buzzer - need to go finish that up - get another load in and fold - don't know what we are going to do for dinner tonight--may make some pasta up ... or maybe fish...

Maxi has Career Day at school tomorrow. So they have to wear something to depict their future careers. Maxi (at this point) wants to be a musician, writer, painter. So... I am going to decorate a white t-shirt with a few definitions from the dictionary... words like Imagination and Play. I'll add some music notes in glittery stuff. And then use our paint set to make some colorful splashes. That'll represent his interests!

No Halloween costumes at his school, Merme? At Jonni's elementary (grammar) school, they wanted the kids to dress as their favorite book character for a year or two. That got boring with too many Harry Potters.

They do the Halloween Costumes in the primary school, but not the middle school. In the middle school it is Career Day. Great! TWO costumes for Halloween day.... Some people don't think straight, it seems!

I love giving Tootsie Rolls out as part of the Halloween stash. My girl insisted that the major supermarket for Maine didn't have ANY Tootsie Rolls of any kind today! boohoo I find that so hard to believe! why

Thanks Merme

I have to tell you... tootsie rolls are one of my LEAST favorite candies at Halloween! Isn't that funny? I do like the taste of them, but I always feel like I am going to choke on them - can't seem to chew them well enough before swallowing, and they get stuck in my teeth. Maybe I did choke on one when I was younger, don't know... just know that I am disappointed when I get one in a candy bag, like at Amy's concert last Friday night - I actually got 3 different kinds and less of the other "good" stuff.

but... that's what makes horseracing, right?!?

I don't chew them as much as I suck on them like you would a hard candy. They last forever! lol

I find it hard to send someone who doesn't know me to do my shopping! She didn't get any of the really cool stuff for Halloween... just snack size things but nothing particularly Halloweenish.

Most of the kids here are so spoiled and greedy, that if they don't like something they get in their bag, they just toss it. Some of these kids bring home pillowcases full of stuff - it really does get ridiculous after a while.

I ALWAYS have small plastic Halloween toys mixed in with the candy. ALWAYS!
I buy them after Halloween - usually for %75 or more off, and save them for the following year. So each kid gets a choice of candy and a choice of a toy. I love the little toys, so this way I can spread my fun since I don't have any little ones of my own anymore. Besides, the toys add nice color to the basket!
