the scarf i made for me i just did. and both matthew and scott said they'd wear it, but i made it for me! lol

using a largish hook (i want to say i used a j or a k) and some slightly bulky yarn, chain an odd number of stitches until you get about an inch longer than the width you want (mine is nearly 12" wide). then in the 4th chain from end, dc in every other chain, with a chain between every dc. to turn at the end of each row, chain 4, then turn, and dc into the first "hole", chain one, then dc into the next hole, and continue to the end of the row, then turn again. when scarf is the length desired (5-6 ft is how long mine is, i wanted it wrap it over my head and around my neck) finish off at end. tassels can be added in every other "hole" created by the open chains between the dc's. it took 2 1/2 skeins of a nice fuzzy bulky yarn. i did a single stitch in each chain/dc along the top, 2-3 in each hole along the sides, and one in each chain across the bottom to give it a finished "edge". here is the pic...

i like the way it makes a zigzag with the holes... and it's pretty warm too!
