ok, so i have a question for everyone. i have a cat (well, matthew brought it home, but it thinks it's mine rolz ) that thinks she has to be ON me. all the time. if i am sitting or laying. she comes and climbs on me. anyone know how to get her off me without getting rid of her? why and when i say ON me, i don't mean my lap. if i am in bed, or sitting, she wants on my chest, and if i am laying on my side, it's my hip she lays on. and if she can't get either place it is my hands or elbows why

sit on a towel or blanket for an hour or so, then build her a "nest" with it next to the place she likes your lap best... then be heartless and mean and put her in her nest EVERY time she parks on you. lol

Actually I would be DELIGHTED if I had a cat that "dogged" my every footstep. As a matter of fact I did. I had a little Calico cat named, Devilene, who, when I would come home and call, "Kitty?", would scream in delight and rush across the romm, jump on my leg, and claw her way up onto my shoulder where she would curl around my neck like a gorgeous orange, black, and white, boa, purring loudly and licking me all over. That was one of the best cats I've ever had.

Jiffy,
Remember cats have slaves, Dogs have masters.
Enjoy being so slavishly adored.

Make the best of the situation, Jiffy. I understand that live pets as pieces of clothing is the latest fashion trend.

OK, it is funny though. lol

I had a pet bunny they are good pets also.

Jiffy, People think cats are not affectionate. I have a velcro cat, he sticks to you like glue. Loves to hug. Never wants to be far away from you. If you sit he is in your lap wants to hug you. So I know what you are going through. lol

somehow, i don't think it would work with baxter either. and the t-shirt thing didn't work. nor socks, a blanket, etc. her favorite perch besides me is my purse touched not in it, but on top of it. after that, it is my computer bag. weird cat.

she's obviously chosen you as her surrogate mommy. is she very, very young? if so, she was probably weaned too early - hence the clinging. as annoying as it can be, i'd give her a couple of weeks to get situated in the new home. once she does, she'll start becoming less clingy.

if she's older, she may have been abused by a guy and that's why she's clinging. again, give her a few weeks to get used to the new home and she'll become less clingy. matthew will also have to work to gain her trust, too.

doing the bit with the towel is a good idea. it'll give her a 'comfy' for when you're not there and for when you are there.

when rusty showed up, he was the opposite. you couldn't touch him at all. i had a sweater out that needed darning (the seam on one of the sleeves came apart). well, he claimed the sweater for himself. carted it all over the house, played with it, slept on it, did the wool-sucking thing. he's over three now and he STILL carries that thing all over the house!!

pics???
