her mother lives in a VERY old house that used to be a church run orphanage. the bat seems to have fallen out of the nest (is that what they are called?) when they were doing some work in the attic. they monitored it for a while to see if "momma" would claim it, and she didn't, so lise took it in. they live on the del-mar-va peninsula and mosquitoes are a problem, so they don't run the bats out of the attic completely, they just try to limit the number. (the attic isn't properly sealed yet) and when they finish the attic work, it will include exterior bat boxes so the bats can still "hang around" lol thumbup

Eek

I know a lady in texas who build things outside to keep bats in the yard......Guess that is the reason.

it is. they can eat their weight in mosquitoes every night. that's a lot of bugs getting eaten instead of eating me!

some are in swampy areas, but anywhere even within 100 miles of the coast will get lots of bugs... mosquitoes and gnats.
