You sound like John. He could end up needing a bone marrow transplant. But when I told him that meant chemo/radiation to kill off his defective marrow, he nixed the idea. No chemo for him. He'd rather die. And he just might.

My oldest daughter told me a few months back that she thinks I'm manic depressive. I told her to remember that the next time she needs a babysitter. That if I were her I wouldn't want to leave my children with a crazy lunatic. She never mentioned it again.

WOW Bill - you are so lucky that you are not paralyzed!!!
Not that you are lucky to have gone through all that at all, but it could have turned out so much worse - really! Thank you for the explanation, though you didn't need to give one, it helps clear up some questions I'm sure we've all had.

I'm so glad you see the bright side to it also - the tiny flowers you might have stepped on otherwise, and the fact that you can still do it all, even though it takes more time. Keep on keepin' on Bill!

Cindy, John has aplastic anemia. His bone marrow is not making enough blood. We don't know why. And may never know why. They are thinking agricultural chemicals but he has always been pretty careful with those. Now because you never read back, I am PMing this to you, too.

As well as not making enough blood John also has some internal bleeding somewhere. That may be caused by the anemia. He swallowed a camera yesterday to check his small intestine and should get the results of that soon. He's been averaging a little better than two pints a week in transfusions. He will need to give himself vitamin B12 shots for the rest of his life.

Gee Tina, that's a lot to deal with. You always have the best attitude.

Cindy always has a good attitude too but she's been in the lead paint which explains a LOT.

He won't do that, but thank you, Cindy. He won't BECAUSE it involves chemo and he is absolutely against that. He has severe 'quality of life' issues.

Bill ~ I just got back on -- It has been a very long evening of homework for both Maxi and I! So I'm just now reading what you posted earlier.

I for one am very glad you did survive an accident of that magnitude, though I can only guess at the pain you've endured.

I'm also sorry you were a victim of armchair psychology by an untrained "psychologist"! "Rumor has it" is never the way to start a conversation I want to hear...

Take care, my friend.

I use to have to get up at four in the morning and cook a full breakfast for my husband when he would have to go in early, pack his lunch, and go back to bed awhile before getting the boys up for school!!!!
