I decided to start a topic for all of us to show some colours and scenes of fall. Whether it be flying geese, pumpkins on porches or frost nipped trees.

heres a start:

I took these last night, they are a little dark because it was getting late in the day.

We have a little shanty(too pathetic to be called a cabin lol ) nestled in the woods next to a small river. It's a pretty place.

Wow, we have many maples here. Even 'Snake bark Maples', very weird.

Do those leaves turn red?

I noticed yesterday how some maples(supposedly the same species) have so many different colours. Some trees are full red, orange or yellow then some are mixed. Wonder why such a difference? I wonder if it could be from different sugar levels or something.

Wow, I could make some pretty 'rose' arrangements with leaves that big. I must make a few to show you all. You fold maple leaves up so they look like coloured roses.

None of our leaves are really changing much yet, but I saw this interesting fall arrangement and fell in love with it. I want to do it in my garden next fall.

Just saw this at the local fair. They just put it in for the fair. I want to do it next year in my yard. I think I would put it in in the fall when the local nurseries get the flowering cabbage and fall pansies. I would like to try to start the cabbage by seed but I have never had good luck with starting seedlings.

Today I will go tackle a maple tree, I need leaves that are soft and bendable.

I'll fold and take pics and post a 'how-to' in the craft section tonight or tomorrow.

Very pretty, I love flowering cabbage.

the local lobster pound has an embankment planted with dozens of flowering cabbage and it is always so pretty. Every spring the pound also puts up a greenhouse and does a booming business with it. Every plant is so well cared for, I buy many things from them each year. I do have flowering cabbage seeds and I plan on trying them.

Cindy -a those pictures are sooooooooo nice! We don't have a lot of color here yet, and it looks like it might be another year where we don't get great color because of the heat we are experiencing this week.

Is that a coral bark Japanese maple? I have one that looks just like that picture!

Beautiful pics Cindy. My two burning bushes were severly damaged from the storm and had to be cut back, they are only a foot high. Nice to see someone else's in full blazing colour.

I love Japanese maples but they need a lot of protection to overwinter here. They do sell them cheaply though, only $65. Don't know what variety they were though.

The reason I ask, is that it appears to have the red (coral) colored bark that mine does, with the same colored leaves.

Gee......... who might that someone else be?

WOW - I got very lucky if that Japanese Maple is $200! I know they are expensive, but I found my small one at Home Depot a few years ago for about $30!!! It would be a bit larger by now if the @#$@%^ deer didn't eat it down every year! madd
