Hello All!

I have lots of summer pastel yarrow seeds and want to know what's the best way to plant them. My intention is to just pour the seeds in a section of the garden and water. Should this suffice or should I have planted them indoors during the winter first?

Since yarrow seeds are so tiny, broadcast sowing is actually recommended. Then you can thin them out later when they have gotten large enough. You could have started them indoors and possibly gotten blooms the first year, but they do just as well started outdoors.

Thank You! I've never planted seedlings so this will be a first. Any tips on how to plant them? I want to grow them as foundation plants and around the deck. I have ten bags...100 seeds each. I'm sure I won't need to use all ten bags but what are your suggestions?

Hello,
Since you say they won't bloom this year, would bare root Yarrow do better? Or...is it the same principal that the root zone has to be established? I really want blooms and I'm trying to determine if purchasing the bare root Yarrow would be a better solution for me rather than planting the seeds.

Thanks,
CeeView
