I wonder if, as one starts to grow, still a baby, you could tie a heavy cord around it, then as it grew it would grow two parts joined together??!!

Don't think it would. I know carrots just twine together but don't join.

I had quite a few coneflowers this year thst were joined like that as well.

I went down a few days later again, and that gourd was still there! I thought it was a sign :LoL:
I took it home[with persmission-they gave it to me :Lol:] and put a polyurathane spray on it in hopes of preserving it... the spray acts like a plastic or clear plaster... I'm not sure where i got that idea from, but i think it'll work. That gourd, along with they two of my own that grew, arenow nice, solid, and shiny, sitting on my coffeetable :Lol:

you can't pass something like that up!
