So today my son and I had a long chat about his birthday next week. There was some slight disagreement over what consistutes a "good" birthday present. When we were through, I went in my room for a nap, still acting undecided if I really wanted to spend as much as he was hoping I would.

I'm all tucked up in my bed, my blankies high up and I hear Maxi using this deep, serious voice with the lilt of a laugh in it.

"Mary-Ellen," he says "this is the voice of God" *giggle giggle* "Buy Maxi ---" Too much giggling drowned out his words and I heard him go back into the hallway muttering "Oh cr@p!"

"Yes, Lord?" I reply.

There is a pause for about a minute "Mary-Ellen, where we left off...." but he is still giggling too much to get the entire sentence said, and back into the hallway he dashes again.

Finally I hear "BUY MAXI a Ninetendo DS and I will be very happy with you!" Then more giggles, but muffled this time and then "You may see my back" and I sit up to see my son from behind wrapped in his favorite red blankie Nana made him and it is pulled up over his head.

"Lord! I didn't know you wear a red robe! Cool!" and there is a final burst of giggles as he dashes out my door.

Later when I got up from my nap he tried to play it straight. He asked, all Mr. Innocent "So, Mommy, did anything interesting happen when you were sleeping? I was in the bathroom and heard voices!"

"yup. I got a visit from God wearing a red robe telling me what to buy you for your birthday!"

"So are you going to get it -- whatever it is?"

"Sure. If God also provides the cash to do so!"

Soon after I heard him shaking his piggybank and I could tell he was wondering if there was enough inside to contribute to the cause of his DS -- which, by the way, I've been planning to get him since July BUT HE DOESN'T KNOW THAT!!

lol lol lol

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Very funny, Merme. I don't mind video games at all. I don't even mind the prices of the cubes, boxes, players or whatever. But I really dislike the prices of the games themselves. I drives me batty. They should all be in the $15-$20 range.

Mary-Ellen? This God again. You need to buy Maxi an XBOX 360, Nintendo Wii, and Playstation 2. And get him a new PC and laptop, too.

Merme,
That is so funny .... this is one I will not tell our boys- I would be getting messages from God every couple hours I think..... ! I agree the games should not be so expensive... nor should the systems- course we do really well at the pawnshops and the game store that sells the refurbished ones... brand new is ridculously expensive .

I thought it was a riot he dressed God in red -- his own favorite color! using a favored blankie -- the one you made him, Nana. Did ya ever guess it was going to end up being so versitile?!

We use the resale shop around here also.

I just noticed on Wal-Mart's website the other day that they went down to $500. Still too much for me to spend on one but it is better than $700. lol

Hi Tamara, yes made Merme and Maxi blankets for Christmas a couple yrs ago... maybe 3? I make all the kids baby blankets - then when they all got bigger they wanted throw type cuddle blankets too so was doing that for the older boys and just added Merme and Maxi to my projects that yr... now with 3 more grands this yr I am making girl ones too--- got to get started on that project soon.... did make one last yr for my DIL's daughter- a princess one.... feels really wierd to me to be making anything pink or girly.... been doing boy themed stuff for so long... LOL!

$500 is better than $700, but when I got my PS2 years ago for $200 I practically had to beg Mark for days. He thought it was a waste of money. rspb But I love gaming, so it wasn't. I'm loyal to Playstation but that's still to high for me to pay. I'll be waiting for years for the big price drop. lol By then there will be a new system out.

Very sweet of you Nana to share your blankets you make. thumbup I know how much time goes into making one.

Oh BTW, Tam--yep I'm just a big kid trapped in a 31 year olds body! lol My brother and sister both are hardcore gamers too so it must be genetics. lol And they are 39 and 37.

Well, all I can say is, God must be REALLY happy with me today for listening to His Voice so well!

Maxi got his Nintendo DS Lite -- in beautiful red and brand spanking new!

He was hysterical with joy this morning!

Now, to get a game that is meant for the DS so he can use the special screen and pen.... Meantime he is playing his GameBoy games and using the top screen for them.... thrilled to bits, just thrilled to bits.

I think my son is pleased I hear God so well.... lol
