Well, DH has his job interview this afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed for us, it's the first full time position they've opened in many years. He works there part time, but a full time job would mean everything to us.

Gonna get some housework done and I'll be back to chat in a few.

What kind of job is it, tamara?

I have a love/hate relationship with WalMart. When they came to our small town, they replaced Caldors. They wanted to sell guns, and the community did not want that. They bullied their way in, even bribing the "higher ups" by buying a firetruck for the town, etc. They did get their way, but a few years later stopped selling guns thankfully. The bazaare thing is... as soon as they opened, a lot of "squeeeeeezy" people whom we had never seen before come and shop there. That makes it unpleasant for us to go... but I do because they have the lowest prices around for a lot of everyday items. They did, however, force many small mom and pop stores to close, as is the case wherever they build a store.

I could go on forever about that store, but suffice it to say that they want to build a much larger Super Store just 5 miles down the road. This one is the smallest one in their company. The new one would have a grocery section and be right next to a Pathmark, most likely putting that store out of business too...

ok... I'm done! I still have to go there today...

The job is for full time with the Department of Transportation. He drives snow plow and grader in the winter for them but that's only part time. This job comes with benefits and all.

Well, we live so far from town that price is what matters as well. I've never done my groceries there yet but I should, they are alot cheaper I've noticed.

I am craving potatoes, so I'm baking a couple (microwave) and plan to have them with melted cheese. I like to follow my cravings because they often lead me in good directions.

me too, tamara, and I still need to lose those 10 lbs by tomorrow to fit into my dress!!!

I have been snacking on red grapes the past 2 days though - at least they are healthier, but they do have a good deal of sugar in them!

So far I've had a caramel cake and coffee, a salmon sandwich with pickles and a tea, a half bag of chips, an apple and now I'm debating to have something else....

Not buying a new dress... I will squoosh into this one!
I'm not even looking forward to going anymore - the other day Don tells me that we are NOT sitting with anyone else from his office! They are all at 2 other tables - WHAT??? He is second in command in his office - how can she do that? They will all party together and we get stuck with strangers...

Hey that situation works great when you have to gather with family lol

Too funny, DH came home to get ready for his job interview~he looked so strange in a suit and tie. I've never seen him look so uncomfortable.

Hey, we got 4 straight days of no rain last week but I was too busy with repairs to enjoy it. It has been raining again. Calling for heavy rain for tomorrow. Think I'll just crawl under a rock. lol

Tamara: I wish your DH all the luck!!! I will say a prayer too

I know how it is--For 12 years MY DH had a nice job with benefits--and if he had of kept it until he retired all would have been ok--BUT to cut costs the company closed his plant.--never mind that of the 5 car part plants the company owned, my DH's plant was the most productive.--I guess closing it saved them the most money--They have opened a plant down south someplace.

Now, the job he has only pays $1.00 an hour less,--BUT the raises are not as predictable or as large, the insurance is not as good and much more expensive--and did I mention he is not able to even join in on their retirement plan for 1 more year??--& that is assuming we could even afford to put any money away INTO it !!--Nary any overtime either----

We were PROMISED rain yesterday--complete with wind & storms. All we got was about 1/2 inch or less and apparently that will be all for a week or more. watering is costing me a fortune!!!

Thanks Carol.

DH and I used to work for a dairy farm and they downsized and look after it by themselves now so we haven't had a steady income here in 5 years. It would be nice to know exactly what a paycheck is like again every week. DH usually only knows the day before if there is work or not, hard to budget with that set up.

The position will only be filled for the end of October, so it will be a long month of waiting to see.

Sorry tamara - I had a phone call.

Now I need to get ready to take Amy to the doctor when she gets home. She likes to check her a couple times a month since she had mono last year and her resistance is still not where it should be...

Hope you all have a good afternoon, and I'll catch you tonight.
